so in my version, I see Ethan to be a very soft and gentle kid thanks to Jaide's care for him but he's probably a lot more rational and wiser than Jaide. That's not to say Jaide's dimwitted, but between the two - you can tell Ethan would be strategically smarter in a battle than Jaide would be. They balance each other out. If she's the Catcher, he's the Trainer. That's why Ethan was able to win against Red years ago.
Now this got me wondering how a much older Ethan would do, aka in the time where Appleshipping is happening and all the HGSS events has already transpired. But I first do wanna share a HC team that I think he'd be using:

a lot of these 'mons are based on canon material
Typhlosion - obvious reasons, Cyndaquil always assigned to Ethan like how Lyra is to Chikorita and Silver to Totodile. (also accurate to manga!)
Togekiss - also another obvious reason, since Professor Elm gives Ethan a Togepi egg early in the game and it would eventually evolve into a Togekiss if Ethan were to maximize his 'mon's full potential
Gyrados - ANOTHER obvious reason, the whole Shiny Gyrados event happened and who in the world would not catch a free Shiny? (Jaide would be so proud!)
Umbreon - Personal choice of mine, if Red (in my canon) has an Espeon, then I think it would be a cool contrast that Ethan gets an Umbreon. Plus, they both have yellow and black as dominant colors in their design.
Ampharos - It's a popular Pokemon that everyone catches, and it's a neat contrast to Red's Pikachu as well. Also another yellow + black combo. One of the first pokemon that Jaide learned to be comfortable with, due to her fear with electric types.
Scizor - Also another popular Pokemon at the time, but for personal HC; Lyra and Ethan went on a Bug-Catching Contest together, only for her to get a Scyther that he would like to trade for - so she did, and also dropped a Metal Coat while trading so that it would turn into a Scizor. She's just that nice.
yes, I'm super aware that would mean Jaide and Ethan has a Togepi line together and YES Ethan's Togekiss is fond of Jaide's Togepi,,,
In the present time (Gen 7), I like to think that Ethan's holding his title as Champion in Johto but he also bounces around doing other things as a Trainer. He's friends with Lyra and Silver, and hangs around with them a lot. He would perhaps be 20-23 at this point in time. He never really has gone out to other regions apart from Kanto, which he occasionally visits from time to time + it's much more easier to go there thanks to Goldenrod City's train quick travel. He still stays with his mom, just to keep her company but he's very active to outside whenever he can.
Ethan and Jaide don't really see each other as much anymore due to their preferred professions being very different, along with Jaide's relationship with Red - but they still keep in touch through long distance communication and Jaide would be sure to visit New Bark Town once in awhile and that's where they would catch up with each other and just enjoy each other's company. He also borrows her Pokemon collection sometimes, she doesn't mind it.
Speaking of which, Red and Ethan may not be TOO close, since Ethan was still young and he couldn't really hang out with them much when they were all in Kanto. But Red still recognizes that he's a good person - and strong as a matter of fact. He'd love to battle him again. There's a sense of mutual respect between the two. Blue being the social butterfly would definitely give him connections to other people and Ethan is no exception. There's nothing too special, but they're good friends.
One day I'll get to designing how older Ethan would look, but this is what I have in mind for him so far~
◆↬ jaide is a self-taught aprijuice merchant. she started when she was quite young - she liked to collect apricorns with her teddiursa and was quite fond of roller-skating to maximize the apriblender's juicing proficiency.
◆↬ she picked up on this trade when her mother introduced this concept to her which was still new at the time, and enjoyed this as a hobby before turning it into a profession
◆↬her childhood companions consisted of; teddiursa, hoppip, and ralts (all evolved as years go by). she is strictly not a trainer, but has practiced basic pokemon battle conduct
◆↬ jaide is an older sister to a sibling named gold, with an age gap of 8 years.
◆↬as kids, they were an interesting duo. while they were quite the tough kids, they have their own styles in projecting it (his actions / her words). gold took an interest in skateboarding to copy her roller-skating tendencies
◆↬she wasn't exactly the same as her adult counterpart. she was a little rough around the edges and sometimes played hard with her words. she isn't the type to fight, but she knew how to get around people older than her and she was rarely afraid. she was fast, charismatic and somewhat smug
◆↬ jaide was gifted with an interesting skill to be able to read other pokemon's natures, almost psychic-like thanks to her kirlia who was able to steer her guesses in the right path. this would later be very useful when aprijuice would be popular in the pokeathalon games in allowing pokemon improve their performance in the multitude of sports*
*(this is aligned with the game mechanic where several drinks have different results with consideration on the nature of the pokemon drinking it and flavor of the drink)
◆↬most people buy her drinks because it actually refreshes the pokemon - but what customers don't know is the underlying magic it does when you mix the right flavor with the right nature/personality of pokemon. that's what fascinates her the most. this can only be achieved because of her good perception of pokemon natures.
◆↬jaide wanted to make it a point that her aprijuice business would expand beyond johto - her personal reason being to introduce the beauty of it. she sees aprijuice production as an intricate way to create natural beverages (and not artificial) for pokemon. (which admittedly, is a commonplace in johto. i.e: kurt and his pokeball production)
◆↬jaide becomes more mild and calm in her personality due to maturity and events that occured in gsc, though she still retained the cheeky personality but it would be more sly and vague. and being a mom. of course /lh
◆↬meeting steven was definitely a curveball thrown at her direction because he's one of the rare people who can see through her cheeky facade. it's common for them to have interesting back and fourth that either sounded smart or really flirty. only they know really.
◆↬after officially being renamed to his family name, she treats aprijuice making as a hobby instead, she passes her knowledge to ruby and this helped him indulge in making pokeblocks. while it's hoenn's equivalent to her juice, she doesn't mind it as long as he's learning something.

- it's a bit of a running gag with new bark town's population that jaide and gold are the kids with the worst natural bed hair /lh (it's just like that)
- jaide and gold loved to skate together in the national park as kids

- jaide doesn't skate anymore, but if she were in a floor of ice, (usually caused by her glaceon), she probably would skate a little. just for old time's sake.
- jaide has met all the johto and hoenn dexholders + only red from kanto. (mt silver incident) she has never personally seen blue, green and yellow but only through others' accounts of them

so there would be a day - of course where steven just knew - he wanted to be with her, for as long as he can. he wanted to propose to her, but how should he go about that?
he doesnt want to be obvious - because she's pretty good at noticing him when he's trying to do something special for her. hes such a loverboy what can we do smhsmh if he suddenly took her to a restaurant with no context other than just "treating you with nice food because yes" but it was actually her birthday then she KNOWS there's something up and it can ruin the surprise (at least for him. he would be ruined if she knew instantly AHHSJFAJFASJF). so whats the best way to go about this proposal idea? he has to surprise her, somehow...
so at nighttime, at sla.teport, where all the crowds at the marketplace dispersed, nothing but the windy night and the ocean waves crashing on the shoreline. steven waited for jaide by the lighthouse, the farthest from the city, and closest to the ocean. he was minutes early than the agreed time. no gentleman leaves his wife sweetheart hanging, now does he? he had the ring box in his suit pocket. he was nervous, constantly rubbing his finger against the cold metal ring he wore.
well fortunately, he would learn about a nice meteor shower coming up, and it just so happens to be in s.lateport city, the very place where they met. he's seen meteor showers before, but she never did. he always wanted her to see one, and this is the perfect opportunity - the perfect distraction, even. so one day, he'd excitedly tell her that a meteor shower is upon them in a few days, and was hoping if she was available to come along to share the view with him. now, jaide obviously could not turn this offer down because she always wanted to see one based on how much he praised the beauty of it, and she cant turn down a once in a lifetime opportunity, no? it would also break his rock loving heart if she declined...
"if she says yes, one of these rings will be retired soon," he would tell himself... he sure was confident. there was definitely no plan b here.
so of course she would come, maybe a minute or two later, but he was happy to see her regardless. the skies were still pitch black, no sign of glitter yet. best to talk to kill some time.
he would begin to express how time seem to fly so fast since he met her, because everyday was a new opportunity to do something with her. then again, he always thought about her even since they were kids, wondered how she was doing since that faithful encounter. he never knew he'd even begin to fall for her when they just wanted to rekindle that friendship. jaide herself never saw herself to be in a relationship with anyone, she was happy all by herself, but steven struck a cord in her that made her think twice about just being by herself - he was more than just a friend. he was someone she knew understood her well - someone she could probably see spending the rest of her life together with ... but thats enough of sentimentality.
suddenly, a little sparkle in the sky and more followed after. the skies twinkled beautifully, and jaide was amazed. her eyes could not be separated from the view - perfect.
steven not only got her distracted, but boy was she the prettiest thing. he could stare at the skies too, but nothing can compare to the look on her face, so innocent, so charming. he allowed her to watch in silence, until it was over.
"i beg to differ" a challenging statement coming from the man. this made her turn her head to him in confusion - there, her eyes widened.
"i'm glad to have shared this time with you" she says, still looking up. "this is possibly the prettiest thing i'll ever see in awhile, steven." she has no idea, she was too immersed in the sightseeing.
and there he was, one knee down - arm slightly outstretched. a box on his hand - a diamond ring inside. it sparkled wonderfully, full of purity and shine

he chuckles again,
he's actually quite prepared for this for awhile now. he bought that ring AGES ago. his father threw every ring design at his direction when possible, he literally asked for jaide's mom's blessings without jaide knowing he was in new ba.rk town and heck, though a little rebellious at the idea, he even got gold's approval - that protective little brother of hers. he had everything, but not the time. but it all ends today,
the times he's been itching about wanting to ask her to be his, and his only. everytime he'd look at her, there's that nice feeling of warmth and happiness deep inside him - because he knows, she's changed him before they even realized it. the moment he recognized her from the crowd, he knew he had to talk to her again and boy is he glad he's done that. and as if she wasnt remarkable back then, she's just as charming as the present - independent, smart, and even considerate for his well being - she never knew he was someone of rich status and always saw him as an equal. it was nothing but a breath of fresh air whenever he talked to her and he only fell harder for her. a lot of people he comes across wanted him for some other reason aside from his actual self and he's been through enough to be distant from those kind of people. but jaide, jaide was different - and that's what made her so charming to him that he wanted to win her attention. but now, he asks with full certainty and will in his voice

emerald, or emme for short, then jaide evergreen as you know! their heights tend to be the same for all of my inserts unless said other wise and all of them are 5'2-3 :3 now their birthdays - usually i just assume all of their birthdays to be the same as mine - february 16. but if you REALLY wanna know when they were made exactly, emme was made on november 19, 2022 (WHAT THE HELL) and jaide was made on february 9, 2023... emme is older by 3 months LMFAOOOO
5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?
ummm emme can swim to the seafoam islands no life tubes or shit 🙄🙄🙄 i thought you knew that /JJJ JOKES ASIDE i think emme's a pretty brave girl, but she's only brave because she doesn't recognize danger even if she's supposed to by instinct. that's probably why she didn't fear shinto in the first place! i totally see emme to be like ed from ed edd n eddy, she's just a chunk of brick that can't be swayed tbh unless it was glitchy because girlie likes him a bit too much PFPFPTT
jaide is a natural when it come to catching, i would also say she's really smart in reading pokemon psychological behavior (as opposed to jaide STONE. she reads emotions) (jaide studied for it. she was in school for some time unlike red and blue who just jumped straight into battling)
9. who are your self insert’s closest friends?
IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING BUT EMME IS OBVIOUSLY CLOSE WITH THE CARTRIDGE GANG 💥💥 but if we gotta talk about the more canon side, grey is definitely her closest friend - mostly because grey kinda decided to follow her since she was brave enough to handle shinto by herself. i dont think emme has much friends?? (ouch) because she's a bit ... out there and i'd imagine a lot of people are kinda terrified of her but if you actually bother to befriend her she'd like you a whole lot! very compassionate even!
aside from red, blue and leaf (semi canon), jaide interacts with many professors across the region so she'd definitely be close with professor kukui and sonia! many of the professors are a bit too mature for her youthful personality but the aforementioned are totally flexible with anyone 💥 lyra (and kris?) too, thanks to ethan! i can totally see jaide having the most random ass connections just for a comedic bit where someone's like "jaide they know you???" (is probably someone high ranking) and she just winks eheeee yuh huh

EMME IS A RANGER. I'VE CONFIRMED IT, YES. I ONLY REALIZED RECENTLY THAT RANGERS ARE THE PERFECT DESCRIPTION FOR HER. they're almost like a police equivalent and remember how i'd say she's the type to help look for missing 'mons? yuh. we will expand on the ranger concept from here on out now!!!!
i've always imagined jaide if she was in the games - she acted like your rival except she's your sister and she follows ethan around to tip him and give him necessary things (and maybe is the one to deliver whatever their mom buys using ethan's money PFPFPTT) and you'd have those single battles with her and she would continuously grow to be more proud of ethan, and does meet him moments before the elite 4 heheh maybe there's a sequence where they bond at the national park wiwiwiw yk sibling things sibling things... ate jaide on the way.... <333
irene - the only daughter of the constantine aristocrats. she is recognized as a socialite in the upper class society. socialites are defined as women of rich status who make it a part of their lives to socialize and participate in social activities among women of similar statuses. usually, she would be lucky to be where she is right now - but is she really?
truth be told, she was never a constantine to begin with, her bloodline truly belonged to the lower class - she was an orphan. but due to the inability of lady constantine to have a child, she resorted to adopting little irene - and from that point did her life change for what would supposedly be, for the better.
but even still, irene never felt like she really fitted with the high society. she always felt more connected to the classes lower than her. she always liked to leave her house just to visit the old village of ragged citizens near her house. they are struggling, yes - but they seemed to have so much more freedom than what she has right now - they could run around, sing, dance, and sleep anywhere. it just seemed so fun... unlike her - constantly being taught how to be the "perfect lady". being forced to learn instruments she wasn't interested in, being forced to wear the most uncomfortable of dresses and to walk in heels. it all felt ... so restraining. she only wanted to drink tea and indulge on her personal interests, namely handmade arts and craft and the variety, but they were deemed as "unnecessary".
it was hard to tell if she's being spoiled or not - wanting to escape her incredibly privileged life. shouldn't she be happy that she's basically saved from a difficult childhood? that was her biggest debate growing up.
but her struggles weren't just that - being a rich, young lady was basically the perfect time to wed, and to extend family wealth among other families. the worst part, she couldn't even choose who she wanted to love - it was still forced. it's almost like an unfair trade, she gets to live comfortably but in exchange - living in ... much more confined standards and being forced to "settle" far too early for her early twenties.
and now, the carpet has paved a way for her to marry an unknown man, just to keep the family wealth strong. at this point, she nearly given up trying to fight for her desire and freedom because there's really no one to back her up, and even she was beginning to give up. maybe she was really just too selfish.
that would all change when she meets that miner. a simple stroll to destress from her thoughts of an arranged marriage would land her on a poor man who had nothing, but her whole attention on him
would she risk her royalty and regal pride for a poor hand she loved, or her joy and desire of freedom for a rich hand she never even met?

close relations
emma and irene are very close to each other - perhaps it was due to their common interest in flowers. emma is a gardener, so she'd have much access and familiarity to plants of any kind. irene has an interest in tea - they would absolutely bond over trying out delicious tea flavors together and would decorate each other's hair in flowers. emma would gift her baskets of flowers if she could! most definitely one of the people irene might've come across in her escapades from the rich life and end up befriending with.
as naib has retired working for the higher ups in his work in the battlefield, he has settled for a more safer job, a mercenary-for-hire kind. as irene became much older, duke constantine figured he needed to hire someone who could look after her whenever she walked out. naib was initially unwilling to help but was coaxed because of the very generous sum of money he'd be given for the matter - so he caved in. days became weeks, then months, then a year - naib started cares for irene very deeply, a certain sibling-like bond has formed between the two.
irene, a somewhat innocent and gleeful lady - is not aware of danger sometimes. but perhaps that's something that naib realizes he thinks is worth protecting. as a mercenary, he has seen many things that are nothing but an agonizing display of life. irene was still young and fruitful, and she still has much time to prosper and enjoy her life as a young lady. he has a hard time verbally expressing his care to her, but will not hesitate to be at her aid if she needed it.
naib is fully aware of irene's blossoming interest towards the poor miner, and while he tries his best not to speak of her personal, trivial matters - he is admittedly very worried for her and wants to make sure that she's genuinely in safe hands when pursuing him and if ever he got the chance to talk to said miner alone - he'd be a little... passive aggressive to say the least. it almost feels like a brother looking out for his little sister.
the miner that stole her heart, irene truly cared for norton since day one. she has witnessed his hard efforts to make up for his difficult life - yet gets disregarded like a piece of paper by his fellow miners. she wanted him to know that someone was out there, constantly rooting for his perseverance. she always found ways to give him what he was robbed of. money, food, water, clothes - anything to replace what taken away from him. but norton was hard to please at first - he had a bitter taste towards rich people like her, and assumed that she was trying to manipulate him. but she kept going, just to let him know that she wanted the best for him. he eventually warmed up to her and got along with her nicely. they both started to like each other by then. by the time the explosion has occured, she did everything to let him recover and admitted she cared for him, much more than she anticipated. norton felt compelled to do something to reciprocate how much he cared for her as well.
along the way of their relationship, many complications has risen as time went on, especially with irene's supposed arranged marriage - but that will be for another time :3 but trust me, things will get better from there 💚 i also want to remind that i try to stay away from the canonical plot where everyone goes to the manor - i have a separate universe for that but it's probably not going to be very major unlike this one. basically this universe is "what if the oletus invitation letter never appeared anyway" 🔥🔥
big shoutout to my friend's oc - reynold berceuse! (@/ttimecode), he is another big brother figure to irene and helped make norton feel much more confident in himself in trying to court irene :3c
extra facts on irene!
- her survivor title is "socialite"
- i still don't have an idea on her "game kit" since im focused on her story. though i'd imagine she's somewhere on the decoding side since she is very skilled in arts and craft :3
- her beta design with blue color scheme will be considered as a skin alternative named regal blue. (since the game has a lot of skin recolors.) it would also match norton's cordierite skin :3
- her arranged husband is still anonymous - i don't have plans to design him (at least for now)
- if fool's gold was present in an alternative timeline, she's still accepting of him because he's still the same person she cared about before the explosion

holy shit. its the funniest thing istg.
so blue, blue was the guy who managed to bring everyone together after being away from each other for too long. all he wanted was to be with his best buds and thats all. however him slowly getting the hints that red and jaide MMMIIIGHT BE INTO EACH OTHER IS A BIG WHAT THE HELL MOMENT FOR HIM bro wanted reunite with his childhood best friends but childhood best friends are now having MATCHING BRACELETS WHAT ABOUT ME GUYS 🥲🥲🥲 AKDLFKFJS part of him thought this was complete bs because red willingly put himself in mt. silver for years and suddenly he's gonna get a girlfriend before him?!?!?? what!!!!! dude said i pulled a bad bitch by being au- /JJJ
but despite the initial shock i think part of blue is really proud of red because blue knows how socially awkward he is and he's not the best with people - so seeing him at least be with someone he can fully trust and be in love with is certainly a development that he hopes nothing but the best for. i think blue would try his best to help red out too! blue is quite fashionable, can totally see him helping red find a nice outfit for their casual stroll date :D

let's go with gold first, of course, hehe. gold has witnessed her change a lot, she used to be very playful with gold - rollerskating and skateboarding together in the park. she was not as refined as she is today and she's certainly rough around the edges when she was younger! he loves her for being able to find time to play with him even as an older sister (who can be busy). he's aware that she's changed so much but it doenst change the fact he still knows her deep down and loves her regardless. he's usually very relaxed with her, but he also knows when not to step on the "you are fucked" territory but he still does anyway lol because she will. probably be a little irritated by him HDFJKSAHJSFAHHAA just because theyre close doesnt mean she doesnt drag him out of danger and reprimand all the time 😭😭😭its tough love and big sister energy this is normal.

overall i think many would not actually know about steven's love life because he's private about it. only certain people know about it (the dex.holders, jaide's/steven's family and friends, and zinnia unfortunately) steven is protecting her identity and he wants it that way because he's famous in ho.enn for many reasons. especially for the fact that he has a family, he's very protective of ruby because of the past events that occured and he hopes it wont happen again and it wont be exploited. the only tip of the iceberg knowledge that the public would know is that hes married, he has a child, thats all. heck, i bet people think it would be easy to spot steven's child for his classic blue hair BUT PLOT TWIST RUBY INHERITED 90% OF JAIDES DNA
