thoughts on who SHOULD rule westeros and who you think will end up ruling in the show?
I love how political of a question this is and it’s tough to discern between the two but I’ll try not to be biased.
SHOULD:
I think that of the people left alive, Tyrion might be the best option. He listens to his advisers and is caring enough to rule the nation without being cruel but also wouldn’t bend over if times required a firm hand.
I love Daenerys and think she could also actually be a really good ruler, I just wonder how she’d act once she got the throne? If she’ll calm down like she says, because it’s hard to tell but I do believe she is good.
(This last one is more for crack ideas tbh) I like they Gendry ruling theory but I doubt it’d happen. Jon is honestly a great leader and could be a good ruler but I think he’ll die before the series is finished so that’s out the window. And I think Sansa will rule as Lady of Winterfell and never head south again.
WILL:
Tougher. The Iron Throne might end up destroyed (Wildfire? Dragonfire? I’m not sure, but it feels imminent), but people in Westeros and today need leadership. As mentioned above I think Sansa will rule in the North, and maybe Tyrion in the South? He has been “ruling” from the sidelines ever since season 2 and has learned what he feels is right and wrong. Plus I have this itching feeling Varys isn’t really In It for Daenerys (maybe he’d prefer Tyrion...?). I’m not 100% but Tyrion feels likely, at least for the show.
However, if Daenerys gets her way, which is definitely possible, she could end up Queen of the Seven Kingdoms (and perhaps Dragon’s Bay?? However that works??) with representatives to keep her crown in Essos maybe. I wonder if her whole team will survive/stay on her side through the war, though, and whether she will listen to them. She’s doing fine now but curve balls are never to be forgotten about.
Either that or a council of a few people from various regions; maybe Bran or Sansa from the North; Tormund from the Freefolk; Samwell Tarly; and a few others? A bit more representation from throughout the Seven Kingdoms. Not a full-on democracy, but better than now.
