It frustrated Jace to no end that everything he did to get Naina’s attention failed. It was then that he realized he needed to dig further into Kabir’s background. He hired the best PI in New York City to trail the other male. Now, he didn’t know what he was going to learn, but he figured, if all else fails, he could just make his life a living hell. What he found was the right opening to make him disappear. Not in the, ‘you’ll be sleeping with the fishes’ way. Even he wasn’t that heartless; more like, ‘leave now or I’ll make you unemployable.’ To be fair, he was laundering money from the company he worked for. Jace covered the company’s losses and after doing that, he dangled the man with threats of prosecution. That seemed to be all that Kabir needed to hear. Before the end of the meeting, he’d handed in his resignation and in two days, he was out of New York. Jace did warn Kabir that he would be keeping an eye on him, however. So, it was wise for him not to try anything with his next employers. Last he’d heard, Kabir was back in California and was looking for employment. Good, he needed to stay there. Jace wasn’t even sure why Naina was still hanging out with that bastard. He was a crook for fucks sake. How was it she could still stand to be around Kabir and couldn’t bring herself to be with Jace? It made no sense at all. Frankly, right now, he was too tired to pursue her. He’d done everything to gain her trust—save the part where he kicked Kabir out of town that is—and still nothing. He was tired of everything, and until he came up with a better plan, he was going to stay put. But then, something miraculous happened. Out of nowhere, she showed up at his doorstep. Dumbfounded, he greeted her with a confused look. “Naina, what are you doing here?”
