A Step Back in Time...
Rounding up a week of Hollyoaks@25 (Originally Aired May 2006)
This week’s Hollyoaks@25 took us back to 2006, as Becca and Justin’s affair was revealed in a very public fashion. As the week began, pregnant Becca was in the middle of teaching when she began experiencing stomach pains. Concerned, Justin rushed her to hospital, where he was mistaken for her brother. Once Becca had been given the news that the baby was absolutely fine, she told Justin that she saw her future with Jake, and ended things between them. The following day, Justin refused to leave his bedroom, but Liz, Mel and Sophie were too preoccupied planning the twin’s 21st birthday party to take any real notice. Justin eventually told Mel and Sophie that Becca was the woman he was moping after, but they assumed he was joking.
Mel and Sophie weren’t the only ones to find out about the affair, as Nicole and Hannah decided to share the news with Nancy. Nancy was furious to learn what her sister had been up to, but Becca insisted that the affair was long finished and begged Nancy to keep quiet. After sleeping on the revelation, Nancy’s anger over the situation was no better, and she tore into Justin when she spotted him in the village. Jake saw the altercation from the flat, but Becca was quick to brush it off, saying that Nancy had been struggling to come to terms with the death of their Father, and baby Grace.
Meanwhile, everyone was beginning to gather over at the Burton house, as the twin’s party got underway. Recovering alcoholic, Mel, was struggling with temptation, and Darren’s instance that she share a drink with him did nothing to help matters. Luckily, Sophie realised what was happening, and Mel resisted the booze. Back over at the Deans, Becca and Nancy were continuing to argue about the affair when Jake walked in. With Jake demanding to know what was going on, Becca was forced to tell him everything. Furious, Jake stormed over to the party to confront Justin...
As Liz brought the cake out and the assembled guests began singing ‘Happy Birthday’, Jake burst in and began attacking Justin, before telling the party goers just what he and Becca had been up to. As everyone began to process the bombshell, it was clear the party was over, and the Burton’s began to come to terms with what had happened. Liz initially took her anger on the situation out on Mel, accusing her daughter of drinking again. However, once she’d calmed down, she announced that the police would have to be informed. At the Deans, Jake was busy packing Becca’s belongings when the police arrived. Thinking they were there for her, Becca panicked, however, they walked straight past her and arrested Jake for assault.
In other news this week, with debt collectors after him, Joe decided to fake his death, whilst Max told Clare and OB of his plans to sell Drive ‘N’ Buy. Finally, Neville and Suzanne were less than impressed when Josh and Fletch broke Grandad Ashworth out of his care home, and announced he was moving in with them!
