rusty growing up with his wandering dad and sorta distant but genuine father. knowing more of the clans than canon & being a semi-regular windclan border visitor to visit his tall dad. he still joins thunderclan bc the forest is more homey than the open plains but like. tall is his dad.

they don't keep it secret — most of windclan knows him by name and aren't surprised that he's joined a clan — but it somehow takes a while for the others to catch on
