I dont think we talk abt Kayla's and Jake's relationship post TAaS enough.

He lives so little. He's the first to die. She pities him. She's so jealous of him. He's her best friend. Her fucking platonic soulmate. She hates him. She loves him so much. She's so happy he's part of her life. She wished he never met her.

Like, she's obvs not aware of the narrative, but I think that somehow she FEELS the fact that he's the protagonist. She can see it. Can see his fucking happy ending and how she doesn't fit in it. She feels like she could/should hate him but CANT. And that makes her feel worse. ESPECIALLY after he's gone.

It's such a fucked up feeling and I think it really is the trigger that gets her pulling away from the rest. Like its INTEGRAL! And we don't even really talk abt it.

Okok I have THOUGHTS ABT A MODERN AU. My latest post sent me down a rabbit hole of brain rot.

So, here's what I think the main 5 would wear in a modern setting.

Kayla's circus days would be a mix of loose athletic clothing and the k-pop dancer style? (Loose parachute pants, tight tops etc). Her later adventuring style I think would be the mostly sharp looking button downs and very extra coats (also I can see her in those belt half skirts?)

Lyra is the definition of old money her old life. Very close to what she already wears. Add in a sweater vest and maybe more of a suit. Post that however, girlie took 1 look at balet and coquette and fell in love immediately. Bows, cardigans, long skirts etc. I like to think she's the type to have those really fun extra hairstyles every day.

Jake is... jake

Kael dresses like a pinterest model. The dress pants, the turtlenecks, the expensive looking button down, the (prbly fake let's be real) designer watch. The tasteful chain necklace, you get it. By the end tho, he's gotten progressively somehow more alternative AND more relaxed (stolen Jake's hoodies, looser trousers etc).

Ari is... complicated. I think her entire wardrobe is a mess of different styles, fabrics, and patterns. She's dressed differently every day and will continue to do so. I do think that she appreciates comfort, looking for soft quality fabrics in light cool colors. I also think that she finds a love for accessories later on. I also think she's the type to have really fun shoes and hats.

Can we talk abt the parallels between Kaylas and Kaerrano?

Like ok hear me out:

Brooding white haired elf who is kind of a loner

Who doesn't believe in love or worthwhile connections

With RAGING Daddy issues

Falls in love with an energetic and bubbly character

From a far away land/different universe

Who ends up leaving they're old life behind for them

That sounds like a LOT of parallels to me!
