So I a-thousand-percent ship Jacob and Bella over Bella and Edward. I have a spongebob-style list as to why, but I know some people think they would've been better off as just best friends.
But I like the idea of Childhood friends -to- Best friends -to- More-than-friends-but-not-dating -to- Lovers -to- Soulmates. I dunno why, but I love that shit.
The whole imprinting thing is... a decent jump over all the middle steps and to just get to soulmates. I'll admit that.
And the basic idea of "You see someone randomly and your entire body tells you that - that person is your person" is actually wonderful and I love it - but, the idea gets so fucked throughout the series (books and movies) that I feel like a lot of people hate imprinting now [understandably].
