Year anniversary drinks, probably playing Minecraft too late when we get in, up early to go skate with the Jakey Bites under the coaching of Cult Friction then back to probably play even more Minecraft and chill out! A good weekend!

Brummies SMASH!!
Oh man, what a day! We travelled all the way to Halifax to take on the Jakey Bites in a derby double-header with Sheffield Hot Wheel vs Lincolnshire Bombers.
Last time I was in this hall was to watch Birmingham Blitz Dames vs Hot Wheel, which was a real nail-biter. Kitting up and skating out for our warm up I realised how the Dames must have felt - compared to Futsal, it’s a pretty slippy floor. We pulled our regular sequence of drills until we were skating well as a pack, as a team, then took to our corner and ignored the Jakey’s warm up.
As per, I was in the first line-up. I tried to settle my nerves, took to the track and eyeballed their jammer, ready for the first whistle.
Our jammer got lead and we swarmed theirs. It felt great. We held their jammer back while ours skated lap after lap. Their jammer broke for the outside, I was right there, turned to skate backward and put my shoulder smack into his chest. He went flying, the ref whistle went and I was ready to be majored for clockwise blocking… It was actually the Dames’ ref Skoregazm who called me for Low Block Major. Not what I thought it would be, but I deserved to be boxed regardless. I was the very first visitor to the box... Had to skate an extra lap for knee sliding through the line of No Return. I sat my minute fuming over my double stupidity.
We held them to 2 points while we continued to rack up jam after jam. Despite the jamnesia involved in a bout, I do recall the scores standing at something like 60 to 4 in our favour. With the taste of victory strong in our mouths we relaxed and played each jam as a fresh entity - not watching the game, trying to stay zen and concentrate on what each line-up was setting out to do.
To spare you the blow-by-blow we took them 288 to 74. I got three majors, one of which was four minors, the other for low blocking by falling sloppily down the side of their jammer. I spent three consecutive jams on track waiting for the box, in the box, back on track then back in the box. Shabby, I know… I’ll see just how bad when we watch the video back.
For now, it’s beers and cheers for the Crash Test Brummies. We’ve put enough point differential in to retain our ranking over the Jakeys… Perhaps enough to crawl up a place. Whatever happens, we’ve sent a message to the Derbyverse - the Brummies are here!
Sheffield's mens team travel up to Glasgow for their next game on the 30th of June, lets hope they can bring a victory back to South Yorkshire
