MAHAR; (In Other Words) Pay With Your Precious Thing
In pesugihan (the Javanese term to call a traditional supranatural way to gain instant prosperity. The person who wants to become rich should sacrifice something valuable in his life so that his wishes come true), Mahar is a payments for Gate-keeper or Shaman in pesugihan ritual. Sometime people refuse that it was a payment. Maybe because they triying to maintain the holiness of the ritual, it means, when you take the amount of money, it considered as offering to the mystic creature. But actually the money is payment for Gate-keeper or Shaman who actually lead the ritual.
In Jalan Emas; The Game, the audience who want to enter the show, have to give something valuable. It could be anything, but the amount of money you'll get is depend on how valuable the thing you've brought. This valuable things are call Mahar. The audience has been told to bring the Mahar a few days before the show, so they can get money and costume. The Jalan Emas's money is important for the audience to get involved in the show (there are a lot of trades and games). The more valuable the thing that someone has bring, could increase they chance and expectation to win the game.
