FACULTY OF CAFFEINE
Today, I came to the JB’s newest cafe on JB oldest street, Jalan Trus. Faculty of caffeine is a nice cozy little cafe located right opposite city square mall. It’s black and white exterior is easy to spot among the other small shophouses located around it.
The environment is nice and clean. Stepping inside Faculty of Caffeine, we enter a small, quaint space blending the old and new that perhaps is the forerunner of the transformation of JB's oldest street - filled with youthful energy and aspiration yet well rooted in the city's rich heritage.
They used Ethopia and Colombia coffee beans. Ethopia coffee beans have three dominant flavors. Tea, lemon citrus, and florals, with every coffee presenting these flavors in different proportions. The dry aroma is striking, and after smelling it once or twice you should be able to recognize it 85% of the time (assuming it’s not too dark) and the taste of it is very light. The taste of Columbia coffee is medium-bodied with a rich taste and citrus-like acidity.
Restaurant name: Faculty of Caffeine Address: 106, Jalan Trus, Johor Bahru (across the road from from the Johor Old Temple and beside Plaza Seni) Hours: 11:00am to 10:00pm
Kin Wah Kedai Makan @ Jalan Trus, JB
To be honest, I’ve walked past this restaurant numerous times but I've never decided to eat there till today - we had originally wanted to eat Sang Heng noodles but it was closed by the time we reached there (around 1pm) T__T For lack of better research, we decided to try something economical and we didn’t regret at all. I must say, their Nasi Padang (RM7.50 for 3 dishes, 2 veg 1 meat) was really good! Surprised myself too. Also loved their tehping~ So yes, found new food option in Jalan Dhoby / Jalan Trus which is NOT a cafe!
