James Alphonse Returns with"i dont need to choose"
Aided by mentors Nick Blagona (The Police, Deep Purple, Beegees) and Mark Daum (inventor of the piantar), James Alphonse is gearing up to release his debut solo EP produced by Andre Kaden Black (Fefe Dobson, Francesco Yates) and Tal Vaisman (21 Pilots, Imagine Dragons). Ranging from electro pop, pop rock and chill r&b, it’s tough to pin his music down.
James’ latest single, “i dont need to choose,” is about relationship insecurities faced by his long-term and long-distance partner. He reassures, “I always tell her that I wish I could show her what I see, because then she’d know for sure that I don’t see any other choices. She’s the one for me.”

James Alphonse Releases Single “We Can Do Better”
James Alphonse has released a new single called “We Can Do Better”. The song explores our never-ending pursuit of perfection.
Speaking about his new single, Alphonse shares:
““We Can Do Better” is a chilling song about the relationship struggles of contemporary lovers, wrapped up in social media, new technology and the toxicity that accompanies them. The desire to always have things at the tip of our fingers and to imitate artificial looks, leaves many feeling as if they “can do better,” in turn deteriorating their self-image. Hyper focused on one’s faults, the heroin of this song constantly insinuates the desire to break it off from the heartbroken protagonist.”

James Alphonse Shares Bold New Track
In his final year of high school in Hamilton, Ontario, James Alphonse received a diagnosis for a chronic illness that he thought would end his ability to perform. He disengaged from a lot of the activities that gave him pleasure until the community from his university and music scene encouraged him to return. Their kind efforts to help him return have inspired him to make and perform music to foster those same community values that brought him back to songwriting.
Departing from previous rock, folk, and jazz projects, James immersed himself in sounds more reminiscent of Pop/R&B, although soul and rock remain inspirations.
After a 3-year writing hiatus, James has released his new song, “What Are We Doing Here”, with 80s video game synths, punchy chord progressions, and catchy guitar riffs.
