Even more convinced ormewood was probably originally meant to be the main villain of S1, or one of two primary villains, with James Ulster. There are a lot of similarities between what Ulster and ormewood did to their victims. Ormewood kept angie in the basement like Ulster did in the show...... ormewood cut his victims tongues out, Ulster sewed their mouths shut..... they both targeted sex workers (book ormewood primarily targeted teenage girls, as well as sex workers, but i dont think they wouldve gone with that on network tv). l wouldn't have been surprised if the original plan was for the bad guy of the first season to be ormewood or for ormewood and Ulster to be working together in some way. (Jakes s1 interview i found suggested there was "a darkness" inside him that he was fighting which makes me wonder. He was so excited to play it too so i also wonder if they needed to convince him this was the right move with ormewood.) If you want some serial killer ormewood crumbs the best episode for them is 1x04.

I would sell my soul and my kidney to know what the original plans for ormewood and Ulster were, whether they chose between them to pick who the main bad guy would be, when they decided to keep ormewood on the show and redeem him, and whatnot. Getting my red string and conspiracy board out.
