James A. Garfield, U.S. President & Union Army General. (Lived 1831 - 1881). #jamesagarfield #president #woke #staywoke #wethepeople #openyoureyes #knowledgeispower
One of the coolest items I saw at the #burtonantiquesmarket yesterday. A signed photo of President Garfield. A bit out of my price range, but I really wanted to get this for my town. (Moreland Hills, where he was born.) . . . #jamesagarfield #presidentgarfield #presidentialautograph #garfield #morelandhills #antiquing (at Burton Antiques Market)

Inside the James A. Garfield Memorial there is a mural of the 20th President of the United States being assassinated in a D.C. train station by someone who thought he was insufficiently corrupt.

F.E.Dickinson owned this book in 1881, on the title page under James A. Garfield, Dickinson wrote, " Assassinated by Chs J. Guiteau July 2nd 1881. Died from the effects of the same Sept 19th 1881". The book was printed in 1880 before the assassination so we can assume Dickinson was annotating for history. This book was written by Charles Carleton Coffin a war correspondent.
