#davidbowie was born at 40 #stansfieldroad, SW9 in #1947 and attended #stockwellprimaryschool. From this #brixton boy beginning #bowie went on to change the world of music and fashion forever. The mural on the side of Morleys Department Store, painted by Australian artist #JamesCochran in 2013, became a focal point for the outpouring of love and rememberance Bowie’s death in 2016. - #myattsfield #londonhistory #publicart #mosaic (at Brixton)

"To paint, or not to paint, that isn't the question." When you're around the Globe Theatre in Southwark, at some point you're going to find yourself in a tragi-comic situation. So when you've had enough of all things Shakespeare, why not take a break, and go say hello to… Shakespeare. That's right! This spray painting is the creation of Australian James Cochran, aka Jimmy C. His other claim to fame is a mural that he painted at Brixton to honour David Bowie when he passed away. To celebrate the bard's 400th death anniversary in 2016, Jimmy C sprayed the portrait of the playwright onto a wall near the Globe Theatre. It's on Clink Street, right under the tracks, near Cannon Street station. It's walking distance to Shakespeare territory, including the Globe, the Rose Theatre and Southwark Cathedral, where Shakespeare's brother is buried. PS: He's given the mural a fresh coating of paint in August 2019, and added a few extra elements to the original. _________________________________________ Find your Great Britain 🇬🇧 #findyourgreatbritain #LoveGreatBritain @lovegreatbritain @akajimmyc _________________________________________ @nofixedaddrs #nofixedaddrs _________________________________________ ………. ……... …….. ……. …… ….. …. … .. . #jimmmyc #jamescochran #shakespeare #theatre #williamshakespeare #london #theglobetheatre #hamlet #quote #art #cityoflondon #painting #mural #streetart #portrait #southwark #southwarkcathedral #bankside #londonbridge #therosetheatre #anniversary #bard #davidbowie (at Clink Street) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2JyK1dAsVL/?igshid=u1grunjhr98q

#Repost @akajimmyc with @make_repost ・・・ ‘The Offering’ New wall in Cascais, Portugal for the @infinitofestival. This is the highest wall that I have painted at five stories high and was completed through rain and sun and with a shoulder that decided to give up. Other minor problems included a water pipe bursting at the foot of the wall disabling access to the wall with the scissor lift for a coupe of days. Through perseverance and some help I was able to complete it just in time. The painting is about giving back to the Earth, sustaining a relationship through gratitude.. The subject in the painting is modelled from a friend in London @aliceinwonderlondonuk who has a Portuguese and Brazilian family background, her father living close to Cascais. Thank you to all the support from the festival organizers. #jimmyc #jamescochran #painting #infinitofestival #offering #motherearth #gratitude #gaia #balance #cascais #streetart #portugal https://www.instagram.com/p/Bw6zZVdlm6z/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=4ob1zoen3okw
