Today. On this day, 1926, a baby boy was born and when he was grown, to his surprise, he would be my dad. He gave me his loud voice, height, ability to never meet a stranger, and to stick with a job or situation. He taught me to drive a tractor before he taught me to drive a truck, but trusted me with both by giving me my own keys. From Caterpillar to the Farm, I won't forget those big work boots, size 15 for a man 6'4" and I won't forget ridding on spontaneous trips to get handmade milk shakes we could eat with a spoon. . . Today, we celebrate birthdays for many, but I celebrate my daddy's home going because it's there he has the best gift of all, eternity. The hope of all glory, the hope of all grace, the hope of the work of the cross...the greatest gift you or I can share is the gift of grace on their birthday.
