Milex/Arctic Monkeys Fic Recs 💖

It's been far too long since I've done a fic rec post - not helped by the fact that I spent most of last year in the midst of a reading slump - but I've been lucky enough to discover some new faves recently and felt the need to share them 🥰

'The Flame and the Moth' by @uhbasicallyjustmilex - Incredible Jamex fic which I know I'll be revisiting 😍 Truly the reigning queen of intricate characterisation. Honestly, there are sentences in this fic that hold more depth and beauty than most novels manage in entire chapters. It would of course be remiss of me not to mention her wonderful story 'Four Walls' which is so good that it single-handedly rescued me from my reading slump and inspired me to finally get on with my own Big Bang fic 😅

'goodnight, my night after night' by @catatonicsx - I'm a sucker for a good vampire fic (no pun intended) and this is shaping up to become one of my faves. Such a dark, intriguing opening that instantly hooks you in and I can't wait to read more 💖

'While We Were Talking on the Moon, You Stole my Heart' by @cheese-danish-42 - Adorable TBHC-based Milex AU that - rather fittingly given the title - stole my heart and made me feel all warm and cozy. The descriptions of the hotel are especially gorgeous.

'Anyways' by @jetskisonyourmoat - Such a gorgeous, intricate little character study detailing a day in Alex's life with a really effective use of flashbacks; I love love loved the portrayal of the Monkeys and Miles in this with regard to how they provide a sense of safety for Alex 💜

'Maybe Tomorrow' by @applysome - Such an intriguing, beautifully written study of Miles and Alex during their EYCTE tour with gorgeous characterisation that feels genuine and a little painful at times (in a good way!). Shout out to 'Our Traditions' as well which was such a perfect, cozy little Christmas fic - I can't wait until I finally have time to sit down and complete the entire 'Our Life' series 🥰
