Madi still couldn’t wrap her head around what happened on the beach, what happened to Matthew. And generally what happened during the night, either. She was relatively okay with the fog, she was among the people who didn’t try to get to the boat or got overly-excited, but when the night rolled around...
She absolutely did not want to think about parts of it. Not what happened with Emre and what came to the surface, nor the fact that she saw Carlota.
(So naturally, her mind was on those events.)
Working on the farm has proved to be the escape since very early on, so it wasn’t a surprise that the farm is where she ended up. She needed to check on her bees, just to make sure they were good (nothing seemed to be off with them, if they saw anyone in the fog and the darkness, they were certainly settled down now), and then went to find herself something else to do.
Before that, however, she spotted Jamie in the distance (it was strange, a full day of no visibility, and suddenly it felt strange to notice people further away from her than a few feet) and decided to head over to his direction.
“Jamie, heeeeey,” she greeted the guy with an awkward wave. “What’s up? Crazy things happening lately, right? How are you-- how are you doing?”
