I saw that video people have been spamming on twitter of Jamie Costa's impression of Robin Williams.
First of all while it's a good impression I don't feel like just impersonating someone very well should give grounds to a whole movie being made. Impersonation doesn't always translate to great acting. Secondly, Robin Williams died only 7 years ago. This man hasn't even been resting a full decade and people are already using his legacy for profit. I don't care how thick they'll lay on the "this is why mental health is so important" facade, they're still greedy capitalists who want to use the image of a comedian who suffered immensely for money. I understand making a movie about someone like Freddie Mercury, he's been gone for 30 years and left behind a legacy similar to Robin. There's been enough time for people to be fans of Freddie that never lived at the same time he did (me for example), and I also understand making a movie about Elton John, since Elton literally agreed to it. Cause, y'know, he's ALIVE. But Robin's loss is just too recent and raw. Has nobody considered Robin's family's feelings on seeing a good impression of their loved one on screens?
And then we haven't even touched on the fact that Zelda Williams, Robin's daughter who's very active on social media and has done some voice acting, has been spammed with this video non stop. A video of someone basically doing a caricature of one of her father's darkest days. This poor girl had to tweet to everyone to stop sending her this video because it made her incredibly uncomfortable and even then there are people who will make her out to be a bad person because "we just want to enjoy your father's legacy, he's very important to us". Imagine telling someone's child how important their late father was to YOU.
Honestly where are everyone's manners? There is absolutely no way Robin's loss is harder on you than it is on his family. The selfishness of some of Robin's "fans" when it comes to his imagery or legacy is dumbfounding.
