Face Claim: Emily Browning
Character Name: Jamie Stevenson
Age: 19
Alliance: Rouge (for now?)
Alias: The Piper
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Power: Animation. Jaime is able to control inanimate objects. Her powers, so far, are limited to medium sized objects. The larger the object the more concentration and energy she needs.
Background information: Raised by her distant aunt after her mother died when she was 8, and never knowing who her father was, Jamie has always felt displaced. Her aunt, who had three of her own children to watch over, left Jamie to her own devises most of the time, it was during this time alone when she was 12 that she accidentally willed a book to come to her. She kept her mutation a secret, feeling that it would make her more out of place than she already felt there. She left her aunt’s home right after she turned 17. She keeps a small leather bound book of poetry her mother would read to her before she died with her at all times. For almost two years Jamie simply wandered around from place to place trying to find home, somewhere where she feels wanted.
Personality: Jamie is quite standoffish and keeps to herself most of the time, or just observing the people around her. She’s usually uncomfortable in social settings, but she’s been getting better at interacting with people. She also has a habit of being very blunt and lacks social graces. Sometimes people misinterpret it as bitchiness, but Jamie means well. When someone does take interest in her, she tries her hardest to say the right things, but usually she ends up embarrassing herself.
Jamie is an avid reader. During her two years of traveling, she would buy the first book she saw at local used-books stored. She also has a habit of using her powers absent-mindedly, especially for small items, which has shocked some of the people she has met on her travels.
Welcome to Dove Creek, Colorado, the sign read. It was old and decrepit looking, the once golden paint, looked dingy and brown, and was peeling off around the edges. Jamie looked over at the man in the driver’s seat; he picked her up sixty miles back. His mousy brown hair cropped short and messy, like he bad just rolled out of bed. His green and black plaid flannel rolled up to his elbows, bits of his forearm still covered in grease. His nail beds caked in the black substance .She shifted in her seat uncomfortably, “You’re a mechanic.” she observed. His eyes flashed to her then back to the road again, he smiled, “That’s right, eight years now.” His eyes flashed over to her again. She was absentmindedly playing with a loose curl. “So,” he began, “What’s a young girl like you hitchhiking? It’s dangerous thing for a young girl to be doing. Especially such a,” he licked his lips, “pretty girl, like yourself.” She looked down at her lap, heat rushing to her cheeks, “I would appreciate you would keep such comments to yourself…. It creates an uncomfortable atmosphere.” The man turned quickly turned his head to look at her, eyes wide, “Uncomfortable? You’ve said three things this whole time.” He looked at her waiting for a response. “You really should watch the road. It’s quite hazardous if you don’t” she commented in a matter-of-fact voice.
He slammed of the breaks; she had barely enough time to brace her hands against the dash. “Out!” She looked at him and blinked twice. “Oh.” She said sounding slightly surprised, “You mean now.” He glared. Taking no notice of this Jamie opened the car door and retrieved her worn hiker’s backpack from the bed of the pick-up. Just as she was about to close the door, she stopped for a moment and made a “come here” gesture with her hand, a small leather bound book floated up towards her. “Can’t leave this.” The man stared, mouth agape. Before she could even shut the door, he sped off. She watched as the car fled down the narrow road. What had she said this time? She began to mull over the conversation again. Maybe should shouldn’t have mentioned being uncomfortable. She turned about to look at her newest town, Dove Creek.
After wandering around for an hour she found a small book store. When she entered she was immediately hit with the scent of must. She wrinkled her nose and walked over to a random shelf she pulled out a bright green book. She looked at the cover, on it was a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes smiling, the cover read, “Ten Steps to a Better You.” She furrowed her brow, the book looked shallow and boring but she decided to keep with her tradition and buy it anyways. She walked over to the counter and put the book down. The elderly lady behind the counter smiled at her, “Find everything okay deary?” Reaching into her back pocket she pulled out a small coin purse, “No.” she answered, “I wasn’t looking, it was a random selection.” The old lay frowned, “Well if there’s any way I could help. I’ll be sure to.” Jamie shrugged as she placed a dollar on the counter, “You could buy some air freshener.”
