Orange sun gently streaked in through the blinds, illuminating a strip of light down Thomas’ face. Alexander tangled his legs around his partners, his head resting comfortably on his chest. Thomas leaned into Alexander’s fleeting touch, silently asking him to cuddle closer.

Alexander complied with no words and fiddled with Thomas’ hair softly, shifting to lay across his body. He pulled himself closer to Thomas, burying his face into the taller mans neck. He let his hands trail away from his head and rested them around Thomas’ shoulders. Alex teased the hair by the base of his neck between his fingers playfully.

Jefferson rocked with a small laugh, wrapping his arms around Alexander’s waist. “That tickles...” He smiled.

Alexander looked up at him with a smirk. “Who would think that the mighty Thomas Jefferson was ticklish?” He poked fun at Thomas with a snigger, curling his toes.

Thomas chuckled lovingly. “You’re lucky that I love you.”

“I love you too, bitch.”

125. “Quit moving, I’m trying to sleep. Wait…are you…what?!”

Far too hot. Why was it so damn hot! Come on, Alexander, you’re made in the Caribbean you’re built for this type of goddamn weather.

He flipped over on the bed, trying to find a cooler place but failing miserably. Thomas grumbled from beside him and yawned in his sleep, clutching his feather stuffed pillow tightly. Usually Alex would gush over how adorable his boyfriend was, but right now all he wanted was someone to dump ice water on his head.

Alexander rolled over again, kicking his pillow off the bed. Still too warm. Thomas’ eyes fluttered open and he stared dead straight at Alexander. “Alex, what the fuck are you doing?”

“It’s too warm!” Alexander whined like a moody child.

“Quit moving, I’m trying to sleep. Wait…are you…what?!” Thomas trailed off into surprised questions as Alex pushed the cover off.

“Better.”

Thomas shoved him off the bed. “Even better.”

148. “Why do you only kiss me when I’m sleeping?”

Alexander finally turned off his lamp. He pulled his circular glasses off his nose and placed them on the bedside cabinet. He closed his book and did the same. Alex laid down in bed, fluffing up his pillow with a yawn. He rolled to his side and faced the person in bed with him. Thomas was asleep. His lips were parted slightly, he was snoring faintly and his clouds of hair were falling over his face. Alexander brushes them away and softly kissed Thomas’ forehead, then his cheek, then a gentle one to his lips. It was his nightly routine.

Alex latched on to Thomas’ side like a leech and almost found himself drifting off when suddenly Jefferson spoke. “Why do you only kiss me when I’m sleeping?”

Alexander broke away from the hug he’d started and looked up at Thomas through his eyelashes. “Pardon?”

“Well, you never really kiss me, apart from when you think I’m asleep.” Thomas shuffled awkwardly, rubbing the side of his arm. “I was just wondering.”

“Uh, I- I dunno...” Alexander stammered.

“It’s sweet, really. But... I don’t know. It’s been on my mind recently. You only sleep once I do, so for about a month now I’ve been pretending to sleep just so you do.” Thomas stumbled over his words, like they were little pebbles in his way. The ones that you accidentally skid on.

Alexander flushed. “I’m bad at affection. Since I never really... got it as a kid...”

“Hey, Lexi. It’s alright, darlin’. It’s really sweet of you.” Thomas insisted, holding Alex close. “You show affection in other ways, you just can’t tell. Little things, like just making coffee. It reassures the thought that you really do love me. Okay?”

“Okay...” Alexander smirked and cuddled into Thomas’ chest. “Love you...”

“I love you too, darling. Always have.”
