We need to talk about how cool TBHX’s in universe advertising is
So far, we’ve gotten promotional videos for 3/4 of the major hero companies (if yall can find DoS lmk)
I love how each video is framed as “in universe” promotional material. Advertisements played on billboards, a tech talk show. They’re so well made. They look like they could be real!
And it’s so cool how each one is unique and fitted to its company (like real companies with their unique brands).
FOMO’s looks exactly like those weird product promotions that tech company CEO’s would give, complete with the empty stage and giant screen. Their logo is smooth and “futuristic”. It has that smooth animation you see in Apple ads. Zac even does the stupid Ted talk “loaf of bread” hand motions (I’m sorry I’m not sure how to phrase this)
MG has that upright “masculine” vibe you usually see in truck or military service ads. It’s very much framed in that, Be a Hero by becoming part of a larger cause. Seriously! Replace the shots of E-soul with a decorated military commander and I wouldn’t be suprised if the ending said “Join the Airforce to protect your country today”.
And despite also being a video ad, Treeman Corp. has an ad with a totally different vibe. It’s very bright and refreshing. Something that feels like it’s targeted towards young people. Also terrible reminder that Treeman doubles as a fucking real estate company. Their greed knows no bounds.
What I love about these videos is how they give us insight into the universe of TBHX that we don’t really get to see in the show. We’re always shown the dirty, behind-the-scenes stuff. The view from up high. But obviously the regular people of this world aren’t aware of that. And these companies have public images just like any other successful company.
Stuff like this really makes the world of To Be Hero X feel real. Fleshed out. It’s kinda a shame we don’t get to see much of this in the show. So much was cut and left in the extra promotional videos instead (*cough* queen— who said that)
