Alrightie, next batch of headcanons for my remade CrP: Jane and Nina
Tanyia Jones (AKA Jane)
Jane has mixed feelings for Jeff that veer to the negative side. Remember this Jane is a bit of a busy body- She wanted to help clear his name and punish Randy and his gaggle for what they did to Jeff and she just ended up in the crossfire of Jeff's wrath- She's incredibly furious that Jeff attacked her and just wants to stop him before he turns around and kills her family or gets past the point of no return (and remember in this AU killing is addictive for CrP so shes trying to get him to stop before he becomes dependent on it)
On that note this Jane would've DEFINITELY been a Lawyer/into Criminal Law in the future if she didn't become a soldier. She might be a Libra or Leo, she's all about fairness and justice since she's very opinionated and a natural protector to everyone.
Jane was actually very popular in school and a natural queen bee. Like I said, she did good in school, was fair to everyone, and while she was a bit pushy, it was always coming from a good place. I imagine she's bashful about that, however, because she knows people get weird about "being popular" in high school.
I've been mixed on Jane's sexuality but I am leaning towards her liking girls more than guys. You gotta understand Jane probably was used to guys having crushes on her. I mean, again, she was popular in High School and in a lot of clubs like Jeff, but I can see her in the closet and her head not getting turned unless by girls.
On that note, I think Tanyia is who Jane truly is while Jane is the facade she puts on, so while Tanyia is in the closet or more open, Jane is out of the closet and incredibly closed off. There's duality to Jane, and she tries to balance both since Tanyia is personal and Jane is work
Jane is into jazz/soul music. She's kind of an old soul, a bit of a music snob. She loves records and cds, and I can see her actually learning to play the saxophone since she's a big lover for that instrument as well
While I imagine the Operator knows Jane is a "traitor"/faking the funk, I imagine it's kind of just watching it unfold because A. Jane's not bothering the Proxies and B. It wants to see how far she'd go to take down Jeff. Her being around them genuinely intrigues it and it wants to get her addicted to killing as well (Something Jane hasn't have happened yet)
Jane LOVES Louisiana Gumbo, and she gets genuinely excited/happy when it's made or its cooked for her. She might not show it, but she's a huge foodie, and Louisiana cuisine is her favorite by far.
Since Jeff and Jane walked in the same circles, Jane also knows Liu, and she's actually quite protective of him. The two were close, and she is also fighting to free him because she hates what happened to him now.
Jane's eye actually melted in its socket from the acid and fire, so unlike Jeff, who's blinded in one eye, she doesn't have one. That's a black glass eye you see there.
Nina Melendez
Now I'm of the opinion Nina was a fangirl, but I imagine she slowly grew out of it with time because by then, killing went from being inspired by Jeff to being a source of freedom for Nina. She never got to do what she wanted she loves how free she feels hurting others.
So Nina gets around. I would say of the cast she's the most comfortable in her sexuality and shes the easiest to be intimate with. You like her and you're a boy? Cool. You like her and you're a girl? Nice. As long as she likes you, she dont care what you are. But like I said, she gets around the easiest with the cast because she offers intimacy and connection the easiest. Of the Female CrP, she probably is the easiest to form a connection with, and I imagine it makes her quite popular with the others.
Nina is a natural caregiver. Ironically, if she's not killing, she's probably cleaning up others' spaces while neglecting her own. Her family ingrained in her that she has to cook and clean and cater to others, and while she tries not to, some habits are hard to break.
I mention in her profile that Nina struggled in school, and that is true still. Nina struggled a lot, and it gives her a sort of complex because emotional intelligence shes high in, but she wants to be smart, and now where she is now, she knows she can't be. It's an insecurity of hers.
Nina probably has dated the most of the cast, but like I said, she's just the easiest for others to connect with. She probably flirted with Jeff and Toby, dated Eyeless Jack, made Clockwork question her sexuality, like girl has the magnetism. But to her, it's mainly about building friendships and connections than the skin deep stuff.
Nina struggles with English a lot and prefers speaking Spanish. She loved writing and used to get made fun of because she wrote in broken English, so now, on days, she writes and speaks in her native tongue because she's still sensitive about that time.
Nina probably has the most secretive kill count as you'd never see her kill. She probably does it very discretely because while killing is freedom, it's something special to her. Remember, Nina didn't have much that was her own; Killing and writing was that.
Nina loves birria tacos and can actually be really hissy if the Mexican Place doesn't make them right. She's very judgmental of places that say they're Mexican but then dont live up to it.
Nina still wishes she could've gone to college. Like I said, she's insecure about her intelligence, but she had wanted to go to school to prove to herself and her family she could get a degree despite everything.
Nina actually loves to make quilts and sew. When she needs to decompress, she will literally brew herself some tea, lock herself in the room, and make quilts and blankets. It's a secret hobby of hers she'll take to the grave.
