EXACTLY YOU GET IT most of my tgirl Grant aus have her as a civilian because I think to discover that she'd need a lot of time to work on herself and self reflect and heal and she can't do that focusing on Slade (whether that be by trying to emulate him or one up him) but I also think that she deserves to be evil and vengeful and kill and murder and maim so I think at the end of that self reflection she comes to the conclusion that Slade needs to get his ass beat and she becomes an anti hero out of spite (bc she just does not gaf about other people enough to be a full hero). And honestly she only targets Slade and anyone actively working with Slade unless Jane invites her to blow up mob bosses and crime lords.
There is something sooooo. Maddening to me about Gretas relationships especially to her siblings. Joey never felt the need to live up to Slade, he never had to try to earn their parents love, his deviations from traditional masculinity or their parents paths was never a source of insecurity or ridicule. Rose has everything Greta ever wanted. She has her old name, she has girlhood she doesn't have to fight for, she has a version of Slade who has learned from the mistakes he made with her and Joey. And importantly Greta is an unreliable narrator. Her perception of Joey and Rose and their relationship to Slade does not reflect the reality, but she's too stubborn and defensive to come around to either of them for a while. Even though she feels guilty about what happened to Joey and still misses him. Something about neither of her parents being able to love her because they both perceive her as too much like the other. She's every bad trait they both have. She's Slades cruelty and distance and inability to connect to others, she's Adelines temper and stubbornness and inability to let things go. She's the girl Addie could have been if she never got married she's the boy Slade was before the serum. It makes me SICK!!!
