please I need to know if Ben told them and are they happy and if peterjohnny are happy too please Steph
TBH I was originally going to end it with a little coda where Johnny moves back into the Baxter Building after it all goes wrong with Peter, and then Ben and Johnny get very drunk together because angst is good and they’re unrequited love buddies now.
But also maybe Johnny's version of telling Peter was, like, spending large amounts of time lounging around Peter’s apartment in nothing but his underwear and waiting for Peter to do something about it. Peter suffers in silence and doesn’t because he thinks it’s just Johnny being Johnny, not Johnny making a pass at him. And maybe Peter eventually, like, months later, realizes that Johnny actually tends to be fully clothed when he lives with people who aren’t Peter and then he maybe spends some more months agonizing over whether Johnny really likes him or if he’s just imagining things. Johnny thinks Peter’s avoiding him. Peter eventually asks Ben what Ben thinks and Ben figures out what’s going on, laughs, grabs both of them, and throws them into a closet until they admit their feelings and defile a perfectly innocent closet. Ben is the best man at their wedding.
I imagine BenReedSue is more like -- Ben tells Reed and Sue he loves them, and Reed smiles and says he loves Ben too, and Sue’s like... “No, dear, I don’t think that’s what he meant.” And then she explains that Ben means he’s IN love with them, and Reed and Ben get into a huge fight because Reed wants to know why Ben never said anything when they were in college, and Ben wants to know why Reed never did. It turns out Reed kissed Ben one time when he was drunk and they were 20, but Ben thought it was just the alcohol and Reed didn’t remember, and Reed thought Ben wasn’t interested because he never said anything, so neither of them ever said anything. Sue’s laughing her head off the whole time because they’re both hopeless -- in twenty years they never figured it out -- and how did Reed ever manage to get her to marry him? (Reed genuinely does not know.) But anyway, they’re all very happy together, and Reed even finds a planet that allows them all to get married.
