First skeleton gold for Austria: At the Eugenio Monti Olympic Sliding Center, Janine Flock (AUT) won the Women's Skeleton event at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics. At 36 years of age, she is also the oldest medalist in Women's Skeleton at the Winter Olympics and the oldest Austrian Winter Olympics gold medallist.

With a 0.30-second lead, Flock relegated 2023 World Champion Susanne Kreher (GER) to silver in Cortina. Kreher, who finished on the podium once in the IBSF World Cup during the Olympic winter, won a medal in her first Winter Games.

In third place, teammate Jacqueline Pfeifer (GER, 0.44 seconds behind) secured bronze this time, after winning silver in PyeongChang in 2018. She is now the first German Women’s Skeleton athlete to win two Olympic medals. Pfeifer also holds the track record at the Eugenio Monti Sliding Center with her time from the second Olympic race run (57.18 seconds). [X]
