*For the children of Gaza, Death*

Depicted above is a Palestinian mother mourning her child. She’s kneeling in front of death in a field of poppies, a symbol of mourning. There are 130 flowers, each one represents 100 children that have died in recent months in the Gaza strip (as reported by the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees as of 31 March 2024). I made this illustration based off of ‘Death’ by Janis Rozentals, 1897.

I drew this to give space for some of the sad and empty emotions I’ve been feeling around any news to come from the Middle East, I pray it can offer you the same.
