Jantastic = not so fantastic

Thud. That’s the sound of the latest motivational message courtesy of the sickeningly upbeat Steve and Martin at Jantastic, landing in my inbox. It’s swiftly followed by groans of exasperation and annoyance as I survey its contents, which is replete with metaphorical high-fives and congratulatory back slapping. I’m told that I rule, about how I’m (seemingly with half the planet) nailing it, but that it isn’t time yet to rest on my laurels. If only I’d actually undertaken some exercise to warrant such platitudes. Instead my Jantastic profile has been taking an extended holiday, with just two runs amassed since the beginning of February, and a no-run-streak extending back twelve days. Last week such dire straits hollered for drastic action in the form of playing a joker, although had I actually read the small print I may have kept it in reserve, not comprehending that I can only play a solitary joker in any challenge month.

Frustratingly, now that I am harbouring a cold/sore throat/man flu I am struggling to see how I am going to revitalise my running endeavours any time soon. In the meantime I shall attempt to give the next enthusiastic dispatch from Jantastic HQ a wide berth.
