Fawn knew, objectively, that all eyes were not on her. She had made a living out of being able to blend completely into any situation when she wanted. However, that didn’t stop the feeling that everyone was staring out of her. That she was projection some sense that she did not belong here. As she made her way between the desks of the Eastern Squad offices, Fawn did her best to look like she was just another auror, had been there for years.
An office job. All because she had gotten stupid and let it show in her reports. Of course that’s not what they had said when they pulled her from the mission, from undercover work in general, but she knew. The past few months, she had been able to tell that something was different. It was only a matter of time, really...
Fawn huffed out a frustrated sigh and turned absently. When she did, though, she found herself looking directly at a familiar face. One pulled right from the mission she had only just left, in fact. Her breath caught and she reminded herself to be cool, be cool. Trip had told her that he was an auror, after all, had delighted at what that meant. Fawn could still remember the uneasiness, wondering if this new man would be able to tell that she was the same as him... Well, he would certainly know now.
“Jan,” she greeted levelly, moving to the desk he was sitting at. She crossed her arms casually and raised an eyebrow. “Of all the gin joints in all the world,” she quoted with a half-smile. God, but she hoped he wasn’t in contact with Trip still, somehow.
