hi! im looking into going to comic con next year and i had a really quick question and i was on some tips website and i saw that you said you've been, so if you wouldnt mind could you answer my question? so its my first time and i just want to make sure i have this right: if you get a badge, you can go to any panel? like you dont need to buy tickets to the panels? i just want to make sure i dont show up with a badge but then not have tickets for any panels. thanks!

Hi there! Happy to answer any SDCC-related questions. :-)

You are absolutely right - the badge purchase means that you have access to any and all official SDCC events for which there is space. (At more than $40 a day, they better!) Of course, this is no guarantee that you'll get into all the panels you want to see - but that's not what you're asking. Once you buy your SDCC badge, you have the right to see any panel inside the convention center itself - no need to buy individual tickets to those panels.

Of course, since you're planning on going anyway, you may want to take a look at the panels that aren't associated with Comic Con International itself - that's the beauty of San Diego Comic Con in particular. So many other companies - like Nerd HQ and the Nerdist - have panels and events outside of the official convention that a person could easily go to San Diego that weekend without a badge and have TONS of awesome geeky stuff to do! (My new favorite thing is Nerd HQ - their panels are FANFREAKINGTASTIC.) Now, these panels cost extra money. But Nerd HQ, for example, donates their proceeds to a charity (Operation Smile), so not only is the extra money getting you access to an amazing hour of fun, but it's also doing something good - a win-win! I know this isn't really what you were asking, but I figured I'd throw in some extra (related) info anyway. 'Cause I can. 

Anyway, I hope that cleared things up for you! Feel free to ask me any other questions you may have - SDCC can be pretty overwhelming, but it doesn't need to be.
