Oh man, let's talk about Alice Isn't Dead (@aliceisntdead ) from the good people at (@nightvaleofficial ).
TBH, I finished this forever ago, and they don't need my help, they are a force! But why not, I want to clean my queue, and it's good stuff!
So, Alice Isn't Dead is a creepy, scary, entertaining, spec fic show about Keisha (Jasika Nicole--Fringe, The Good Doctor), whose name you won't know for a minute, because this story is told in a first person POV as a narration over a CB radio from behind the wheel of a MACK truck.
Keisha thought her wife, Alice, was dead. Keisha mourned her, she tried to move forward, but she saw her. She saw her on the news...in a crowd, and then she went down a rabbit hole and started tracking her trail, finding her at sites where things happened, so now, NOW, she's mad, and pushed down her fears and anxieties, she's quit her job, she got a CDL, all so that she could get a job for the transportation company Alice work(s)(ed) for, Bay and Creek Shipping.
She knows something fishy is going on, and she's gonna find and confront Alice if it's the last thing she does! And...it very well could be, because between both weird and innocuous deliveries alike, there are some not quite human creatures running around America's backroads killing people and Keisha meets one(?) of them, and some crooked cops, and holy shit! DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS IN THE CAR. Okay?! Just don't. I somehow forgot about stereophonic surround sound jump scare-ish tractor-trailer noises while trying to play this for my partner on a road trip and well, they won't be listening again. 😬 I didn't think that through.
Chills, thrills, queer romance, creepiness, and some serious violence/menace content warnings, but amazing acting, fabulous writing by the ever amazing @planetoffinks , and an additional audiobook/book that you can buy to boot! You will not be disappointed!
If you like less light-hearted Welcome to Nightvale, or maybe dark X-Files/Warehouse 13 vibes, adventure/thrillers, then Alice Isn't Dead is for you!
