What he really meant.
Geralt: Wait, what?
After this ridiculously escalated Jaskier fandom SNAFU, I fear I will expect too much from season 2 and the outcome is this.
Hello! 3, 9 and 12 for the Witcher Netflix Ask please 😊
3. What was the moment that made you go oh hell yeah?
Oh. Like that first scene. The black eyes?? The monster fighting? I wanted 900% more of that shit, please and thank you.
9. Which character is closest to you in personality?
Jaskier. I am not even saying that because...well I think everyone who loves him, feels kinship; I am saying that because oh god, I’ve actually without thought, told my mother my plans for what is basically a retirement trip with the wife was to head to the coast. Cue waking up at 2 am realizing ‘oh god, I am Jaskier. All I want to do is retire to the coast’
Also, I’m short, loud, and feral. I’m an English lit major with a boner for history. I am a disaster bi, to the highest degree. I hum stupid songs without thought. I have flirted with people I had no right to flirt with and probably got their number. I am constantly in question how I made it out of child/teen/young adult hood without being kidnapped and murdered. Some how I found my Geralt and got lucky she’s tall and strong enough for both of us because without her I will 100% end up in a ditch somewhere.
Honestly the only thing I am missing on the Jaskier bingo sheet is the musical talent. I have tiny af hands so most instruments are impossible to me.
12. Who is the character you found most difficult to like or relate to?
Yennifer -which is odd because I really loved her in the games. It’s a little hard to explain, because I think for a good portion of the show I was still on board, but at the end of the day I have a lot of issues with how the show tells her story...not Yennifer herself really, because there’s a lot about her I still really love and hope to see, it’s just that there...seems to be pieces missing? I felt there were better ways to show her ambitions/losses, small things or line delivery, even the editing with her story lines threw me at times. So it’s difficult only in the sense that I am slightly disappointed; that’s not to say I hate her, or the actress playing her in anyway is bad. I just was constantly ??? when it came to her story.
Another part of it is...the whole orgy scene w/strangers/drugging Geralt episode leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I realize this is a magical universe, that it was magic. That in context of game/book events its there but...older me, who has had more experience and values consent far more deeply in media - so much throws it out casually, purposefully- made it hard for me to ignore the implications. This is probably not a big problem for anyone else, and I accept that. More so when Yennifer’s story is heavily about lack of consent/choices. Ah, I don’t want to make a big fuss, it’s merely just another stumbling block, that I sorta wished they had done differently.
