In Finnish Jaskier = Valvatti which sounds quite nice, actually. Valvatti translates in English as sow thistle, “ genus of flowering plants in the dandelion tribe within the sunflower family”.

Like we all know, Jaskier in Polish actually means buttercup but it may have sounded a bit too much patronizing or sth so the translator went with Dandelion. Also, in Finnish buttercup = leinikki, which is too feminine even for Jaskier. To stirr things a bit, dandelion = voikukka in Finnish, literally “butter flower.”
