She’s crying, face hidden behind the pillow she was previously holding to her chest. He doesn’t know what triggered it, he honestly wasn’t paying attention to the movie they are watching. He is pretty sure it wasn’t a movie to cry at, though.
He pries at the pillow but she holds on tight to it.
“Can I see you?” He doesn’t like her being upset and he wants to kiss her nose because he knows how much she likes that. It always makes her smile.
He always wants to make her smile.
She shakes her head and hugs the pillow closer.
It breaks his heart. “Why not?”
He scoffs. She could never be gross. She could be covered in blood and snot and bird droppings and she’d be the most beautiful thing on the planet. And he knows it isn’t just him being biased because he loves her so much.
“Babe, please. I want to see you.”
She whines and he tugs at the pillow again.
She gives in and lowers it just a little and he takes the chance and pulls it away, tosses it away from the couch.
Her eyes are puffy and red and there is a little bit of something coming from her nose.
She’s absolutely gorgeous.
He wants to take a picture but he knows he shouldn’t, so instead he cups her cheeks and smiles at her, before closing his eyes and tilting his head up to the ceiling.
“What?” She asks, sniffling and sounding wrecked in not in a good way.
“Just thanking God for sending me an angel.”
“You’re gorgeous.” He whispers, leaning in to kiss her tears away.
“I’m gross and sobbing about a space ship.”
He kisses more tears. “Which is why I love you.” He moved his lips to brush hers, then presses his lips to the tip of her nose. He can see her smile just slightly. “Do you believe me when I say you’re beautiful?”
She tilts her head just slightly to kiss him properly.
“Not as beautiful as you in your maid dress.” She whispers back, a hint of a laugh there. He grins.
“Well, that is a given. Now. Why are you crying about a space ship? We aren’t even watching Star Trek.”
