Induratize: To harden ones heart against someone’s pleas or to the idea of love

“You were my hero,” Eyeball says, and she sounds shocked. And numb. “I- I loved you.”

“You still can.” Jasper holds out a hand to her, highly aware of the blue-green spots that will forever mar her orange skin. She supposed that the consequences were fitting of the crime. “Stay with me.”

She seems to consider it, eye darting hopefully to Jasper’s face. But then she shakes her head and steps back, and Jasper’s smile falls.

“I sacrificed everything to get where I am today.” She whispers, rubbing her wrist like it still hurts from swinging. “I- I almost died, over and over and over again. How can I just give up on Yellow Diamond, after all I’ve done for her? How can I give all that one for one soldier?” Her voice takes on a sharp tone- hard as flint. “How can I give that all up for you?”
