Today marks the 110th day of Dr. Abduljalil al-Singace's #hungerstrike in #protest of the ill-treatment of inmates and the poor, unsanitary conditions at #JauPrison. Dr. Al-Singace was a prominent academic and blogger arrested for his participation in the peaceful #ArabSpring protests in 2011. Since his imprisonment, Dr. Al-Singace has been denied specialist medical treatment for his post-polio syndrome as well as his immediate need for nasal and ear surgery. #ADHRB along with 9 other #NGOs call for the release of Dr. Al-Singace for the violation of Article 19 of the #ICCPR. #SingaceHungerStrike #Bahrain #humanrights #humanrightsdefenders #stoptorture (at Americans for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain)

Naji Fateel is a prominent human rights activist and co-founder of the Bahrain Youth Society for Human Rights. On 29 September 2013, a Bahraini court sentenced Naji to 15 years in prison on political charges. Naji is currently serving his sentence in Jau Prison where he participated in a hunger strike to protest the treatment of prisoners. Jau Prison is notorious for torturing its inmates with physical beating, denial of medical services, and deprivation of food.
