A photoset I’ve dreamt of shooting for years
walking up and down through the sunset
this was my home when I was evolving out of adolescence
I couldn’t be more grateful
for the crashing waves
and for the vibrant skies

Java beach, best coffee shop in SF, CA
Java Beach, 2650 Sloat Blvd, SF, CA (Outer Sunset), Score: 39/50
You'll see people from all walks of life at this popular, laid-back coffeehouse. Laptop campers are fond of it as well. It's one of the few places in town where parking is never an issue. Old-timers enjoy drinking beer (Guinness is on tap). You may have to battle multiple baby strollers.
They have another location (the original) on Judah but that one barely has any plugs. This is the better spot for laptop camping.
Score: 39/50
Food: 4/5 - it's good, fresh and plentiful, try the oatmeal, meal sized salads, toasted croissants and toasted subs
Coffee: 4/5 - consistently decent lattes, not overly bitter
Wi-fi: 3/5 - can be spotty, seems faster than the 11 Mpbs it says, unsecure
Ambiance: 4/5 - ceiling fans, airy, light wood, feels like a surfer hang out, 1 block from the ocean
Noise: 3/5 - can get noisy with all the kids that visit the zoo across the street, music is usually bad (classic rock)
Plugs: 5/5 - plentiful, they even have power strips
Parking: 5/5 - super easy, all day & free
Comfort: 4/5 - seats (wood, unpadded) are hard but not too bad
Bathroom: 4/5 - one unisex, sees a lot of traffic but usually clean
Art: 3/5 - I haven't seen anything too impressive but it's decent and for sale. I usually stare at the Doggie Diner head outside.
Tips: Window seats can be too sunny (and cause terrible screen glare). Arrive early to secure a seat. Turnover is fairly steady and you can sit outside if you can't get a seat inside. All of the tables are small and round. It's definitely busier on sunny days because zoo attendance goes up.
