TMJ stuff
Shoutout to all the people with TMJ and jaw misalignment issues. Ever since I got braces in school (that I didn’t even think I needed, but my parents thought it was very necessary), my jaw has been ever so slightly out of alignment. I’m pretty sure my orthodontist didn’t seem to think it was that bad an issue and just told me to not close my jaw properly whenever I wore my retainer (wtf? is that good advice? I don’t know.)
Fast forward to now and my jaw is getting much worse lately. Clicking and cracking constantly, facial pain/headaches and not being able to eat comfortably to name a few. Plus the fact that my misaligned jaw and consequently charmingly wonky smile has always bothered me to some degree ever since my braces came off.
After dealing with it for quite some time now, I’ve come to realise that it’s not just a cosmetic issue and that it could become even more problematic in the future...so now I’m thinking I need to get it sorted out somehow. Who knew that your jaw could be such a pain. Not entirely sure where to go from here, but I don’t want to delay it until it becomes very bothersome :/
Mouth pain comes and goes. But a misaligned jaw may be the cause if the pain won’t go away or causes you discomfort on a persistent basis. These bones that make your mouth open and close can be out of whack for various reasons...
