Sorry, I know i made a request already but this popped in my head earlier today and I wanted to send it before I go to sleep and forget it
Can I request headcanons for the Rangers? Where Azuria is having some kinda of party/festival/something with dancing and the princess takes time to get at least one dance with each of the Rangers?
YES I LOVE THIS
Also want to apologize for my long absence, and the fact it will take me longer to post stuff because I recently got a new job in a new place and am trying to adjust. Thanks for understanding!
Dancing with the Rangers Headcanons
F! Reader
Let me set the scene: night has fallen in the square of the capital of Azuria—music, lanterns, nobles, food stalls, and a dance. The princess quietly makes it her mission to get at least one dance with every Ranger.
Simon
Simon almost doesn't dance at all. He spends the first half of the evening lingering near walls or stands, pretending he's perfectly content with watching everyone else.
When you finally approach him with a smile and hold out your hand—he feels betrayed.
"You looked lonely over here, Simon. Come dance with me."
Simon is awkward at first—stiff shoulders, unsure of where to put his hands, and he keeps apologizing if he steps wrong.
But once he relaxes, he is surprisingly gentle.
Simon is the type to focus completely on you during a dance. It's as if the rest of the festival fades out. He notices everything—if your feet hurt, if your dress is irritating, if you're cold, if nobles have been annoying you.
Halfway through the night, he mutters, "You should be enjoying yourself too, you know. Everyone's been demanding your attention all night."
If someone tries to interrupt, he gives them a look that says absolutely not.
When the dance ends, he hesitates before letting go. Like he wants to ask for another but doesn't. He absolutely spends the rest of the night secretly watching to make sure nobody bothers you.
Gaul
Gaul absolutely already knows how to dance, but he keeps that secret to himself. He's attended formal events, learned proper noble etiquette, and the like.
You go up to ask him, and he immediately gives a playful sort of mock bow, saying, "It would be an honor, Princess."
Liar. He kind of wanted to hide in the crowd the whole evening. But while Gaul may be sassy on occasion with you, he isn't one to refuse his captain and his princess. So, he puts on his A game to make sure you have a nice time.
Out of all the Rangers, he's the smoothest dancer. Confident lead and perfect posture. He makes you feel safe the entire time.
If you're nervous or overwhelmed, he subtly guides you away from the more crowded areas. He compliments you in a respectful way, but still very Gaul: "You're covered in less dirt than usual—it's a radiant look on you."
And somehow—with him—it sounds so sincere that it leaves you flustered.
Gaul definitely notices every noble staring at you, and he gets a tiny bit territorial. He's the type to quietly ask if any of them have been bothering you.
If you joke about him sounding jealous, he nearly chokes and threatens to just leave you there on the dance floor all by your lonesome. It makes you giggle.
When the dance ends, he kisses your hand like it's the most natural thing in the world.
Kora
Kora acts like she's too bust, saying, "A dance? With me? Isn't there someone else you'd prefer?"
She's teasing of course. The second you insist, she gives in with an amused sigh.
Kora is surprisingly good at dancing. She's not formal-perfect like Gaul, but experienced. She is relaxed and confident.
She spends the entire dance trying to make you laugh because she understands how stressful things can be for you. Dry humor and playful teasing. Usually involves Simon.
"Careful, Highness. People start rumors if you and Simon keep sneaking off together."
Kora is also very protective of you. If she notices you've been overwhelmed by royal duties, she purposely sneaks you outside for air afterward.
Probably steals festival desserts for the two of you.
Definitely gives off the vibes of your mother, and Kora quietly gets emotional seeing you enjoying yourself as if she is feeling how Amara would feel.
At one point, she softly says, "Your mom loved festivals like this."
And then ruins the emotional moment by adding, "Though I think she danced worse than you."
Ogden
Poor Ogden
This man is not physically or emotionally prepared for dancing and was planning on just watching everyone else. You asking him to dance causes him to visibly short-circuit.
"M-Me? My lady, I don't think-"
Just dance with me."
At first, he is very stiff, kind of nervous, and unsure of where to put his feet. Eventually, he starts to get the hang of it. By the end of the night, he actually starts to have fun.
Like Kora, he tries to make you laugh because he understands your stressful life. And he does a good job at it.
Ogden gives you grandfather vibes—makes you feel safe while having fun at the same time.
He's shorter than you, so you end up twirling him around. Lots of laughter, all his earlier nerves fading completely.
By the end of the dance, he asks if you guys could do it again. But judging by his shaky legs, you ask for a rain check on that offer and instead insist on raiding the food stalls.
Thea
She is SO excited and been waiting all evening for this. The second she sees you are free:
"MY TURN!"
This is not graceful ballroom dancing. This is chaotic spinning. You both are laughing, nearly tripping, and accidentally abandon the proper dancing halfway through because she wants to freestyle.
At one point she absolutely grabs your hands and twirls you too fast. You spend most of the dance laughing.
She keeps complimenting your outfit every thirty seconds: "You look so pretty! Absolute princess perfection!"
At some point Thea gets distracted by festival snacks. The dance somehow turns into wandering stalls together.
If anyone comments that a princess shouldn't be fooling around so casually, Thea immediately puffs up and defends you. Sometimes she goes a little overboard and you have to drag her away from the sitatuation.
Ends the night by dramatically declaring, "Best dance partner EVER!"
