So, I just watched Jawan for the first time, and I have to say I was underwhelmed. I do love a good Indian action movie. I know they aren't supposed to be realistic or even make much sense, but this movie took that to new heights. And I found it so overstuffed with plot and characters my mind was constantly wandering. I judge a movie partly by how many times I check my watch, and this one didn't do so well. I felt like there was an awesome revenge movie in there about Vikram and the arms dealer, without the whole Azad storyline. Vikram's intro was badass, but then it was waiting around for an hour and a half until he shows up again.
The action set-pieces were great. I love the messing with frame rate and crazy fight scenes. Some of those effects even looked practical. However, the de-aging on SRK was so bad it completely took me out of the movie. He looked so creepy I had a hard time watching him. And honestly, I didn't find anything about Azad believable or even particularly interesting. I can see why everyone is all about Vikram - he's hot, awesome, has all the best scenes and is 100% superstar Shahrukh. Didn't get a shirtless scene, but you can't have everything.
Anyway, I'm not going to complain about getting new SRK content - that's always a good thing. I'm looking forward to all the new pics and gifs.
And the Dunki trailer just dropped...
