you don't need to start at any specific point, but 3 and New Vegas are significantly different from all the others, and probably closer to what 4's gonna be like. Also they're cheap on Steam right now.

i actually already have all of them i just. never got around to playing them. :v

imo its best to start with 3, that's where the 'new' fallouts start but fallout 1 and 2 are both good as well.
