It's Milo's fault for making me think of them so here's me being back on my bullshit about JayRoy ramblings
Sexuality headcanons!!!
Jason is simply ace, I love him that way. But the twist is Roy is hypersexual (both of those are trauma responses argue with the wall)
Jason never had a good view of sex. It was never about love in his world. He's seen older girls in skimpy outfits around the block in dark alleys, men going into specific buildings to spend time with girls. Even married men. Somehow especially married men. He's heard Willis and Catherine a few times, thin walls and all, and it never sounded pleasant even before he was old enough to understand what was going on. It sounded violent. Also he saw his mom shutting out, going hollow, and using even more after the days she had sex with his dad. He saw the way guys his age acted towards the girl, the way older guys looked at little girls, old men getting arrested late at night for crimes people only hushed about, how broken the girls and the boys were after specific events. Growing up, sex wasn't something Jason associated with love or pleasure or anything positive at all. So he just... Grew up to never feeling the urge, need, attraction, whatever you choose to call it
And Roy, oh, my baby Roy. Roy's hypersexuality is a response all the years in his childhood he's spent without his autonomy, never feeling like his own person, always being used, never having choices, or not having his choices respected. It projected into something he could control as he grew up, sexual intercourse. It makes him feel alive, like his choices matters, his consent and what he wants and what he does matters. It's a form of OCD, wanting control over things he can have, to make up for all the things he couldn't and still can't control. He could be with whoever he wanted, whenever he wanted, do whatever he wanted. He wanted, needed, loved the safety of being able to have a say over what was happening to him
And for their relationship, I really don't think they have much sex, if at all. They do make out, a lot actually, and hands wander, but that's about it. No one is feeling like he's punishing the other, though
Roy struggled with it a lot in the beginning, trying to set the mood and seduce Jason, insisting uncomfortable amounts. Because having sex was his coping mechanism, not having sex, especially with the guy he liked, triggered his fight or flight again. It panicked him, turned him self destructive, which is worse for him than average person because of his addiction. Jason couldn't have that, so he had a very harsh, real conversation with Roy about it
And it came to the point of Jason needing to say that while yes, he understood what Roy was doing and why he was doing it, insisting was disregarding Jason's autonomy. It was like a bucket of cold water over Roy's head, and he almost had a panic attack thinking he was doing the thing he'd been subjected to, to Jason, his beloved. Though before he could spiral, Jason did tell Roy that he trusted him, that he knew he wouldn't do anything Jason didn't want no matter how pesty he was being, and it was okay
That was when he brought up sleeping with others. I really don't think this as being liberal or rebellious or whatever but for someone as pragmatic as Jason, I don't think he'd mind or be insecure about Roy sleeping with someone else as long as he was filled in about it. An open relationship of sorts, but only sexual-wise
Roy was VERY against it, obviously, rattling off about how he loved Jason and how he doesn't want anyone else and it was being unfaithful to him and he wouldn't do that to Jason. But Jason was like "Dude stfu you wanna have sex? Good for you. I don't wanna. I love you, you love me, we both know that. And I trust you enough to not care whose you have up your ass, or who you're sticking it in to. Just let me know, and don't catch anything."
It took a long time, it was hard on both of them first. Even if Jason was the one who suggested it, he still had issues with his self love and worth and was worried, a lot, that maybe it wasn't a good idea and he was just driving Roy away from himself and he was gonna get tired of Jason and just go find someone else and—
It was fine, surprisingly fine. After the first few times, it became... Easy. Roy never really slept with anyone he didn't trust or Jason didn't already know, never kept information from Jason about it. And he kept coming back, to Jason. Every time, he was back, he was in his arms. And that made Jason more secure
Also seeing that sex wasn't always a bad thing, that it could actually be enjoyed and didn't have to be painful, physically or mentally, helped Jason see sex in a different light, too. Of course he knew, logically, that sex wasn't inherently a bad thing and there were people who loved and enjoyed sex, but seeing it up close was a lot more effective than the forced logic in his head. He didn't have to worry about Roy being unhappy with it, he could take care of himself, and he did. Jason also saw that it was helping Roy mentally, too, beyond the physical pleasure. So he started forming more positive opinions about sex
Jason still wasn't interested, but it did help him be more relaxed about it, helped him feel more comfortable with Roy in a way he wasn't quite before
And this is why ladies, gentleman, royalty, and those above them: open relationship JayRoy
Thanks for listening to my ted talk I love them
