Fire in your veins, ashes in your throat
Summary: an insight on Jay's first breakdown with his father
word count: 1047 words
Warnings: violence, blood, abuse
A/N: I had a really clear idea of how and when Jay would cross the line between protecting and getting revenge. Jay is heavily inspired on Matt Murdock (the daredevil series version), but I don't remeber exactly what moment inspired me to write this. He's sort of his family's Daredevil.
Jay Kane had always been a fighter. He knew that since the day he was born. It wasn't just about his mentality, no, it was about the weight of his last name on his hands, hands that had punched, and punched, and punched some more, fists that were stained with blood, blood that never left, no matter how much he washed it off.
It haunted him, how much he had hurt people. He still remembered the nights where his mother hid him in his closet, locking the door from the outside, nights where her cries and begs resonated in the empty apartment, nights where his fear had engraved the sounds in his memory.

"Jay, did you make it here alright?"
▪︎ Matt walks in, closing the door behind him, and going to his desk.

He turns around, startled. "You just appear out of nowhere a lot?" He mumbled. "Yeah, I did" He said more clearly.

"Jay..."
▪︎ Matt enters the office, sighing softly.

"Let's take the day off."

Jay looks up from the paper he was working on. "What? Uh- sure, yeah"
Jay was just coming to get some stuff. It was what he told himself. He was coming to steal some of the food people gave to Matt and maybe grab the bag he'd stashed here if he had to run away from home.
He was sure no one was here at this time, it was early morning, the office was close, and yet, there she was. He froze in the doorframe, unsure. Would Karen tell Matt he'd been here after being gone from home for a while?
In his rush, he knocked against the door and made a loud noise, startling her.

With all the crazy things happening lately, Karen had fallen behind in some case that needed to be typed up and filed. She figured getting to the office early would be the best way to get work done without the typical Nelson and Murdock distractions.
The sound at the door made her squeak in surprise and whirl around. The young man standing there looked as startled as she felt.
"Jay?" she said in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
I'm gay, there, I said it
ducks really like peas u shld feed them peas !!!
Ooooohhh
I'll get matt to buy peas too :D
