Book Recommendation #138
‘The Art of Neighboring’ (Dave Runyon & Jay Pathak) ~~~> Relationship building is a crucial soft skill to learn, grow into/from, and eventually, gain mastery in. These gentlemen contribute heavily to this area of personal, professional, & spiritual development through having published this book for all of us to glean knowledge from. In our modern world of social media\networking, texting, & other ‘low touch’ means of communication, it’s quite likely that many of us have, or are at risk of losing the art of connecting with others. If one reads all 12 chapters, and can then actively apply what is being taught, we can each do our part to restore elements of social capital that are critical to the growth of our neighborhoods, businesses, places of worship, & other areas where men & women meet, work, exercise their faith, and/or volunteer. My biggest takeaway was the “S-A-F” progression: stranger to acquaintance to friend. In sum, a book that I’m more than glad to recommend to others.
