Modern Family : The best show ever😂
“Why do we choose partners so different from ourselves? It's not fate or chance or clichés like 'the heart wants what the heart wants'. We choose our partners because they represent the unfinished business from our childhood. And we choose them because they manifest the qualities we wish we had. In doing so, in choosing such a challenging partner and working to give them what they need, we chart a course for our own growth.”
Jay Prichett (Modern Family)

Modern Family my fave scenes [3/15] S02E21 Mother’s Day. “You only get one mom.”
*Jay shows Gloria grave where Jay wants to be buried with her when they die *
Jay: This is it! Ta da!
Gloria: What is “ta da”?
Jay: I’m just saying this is it, “ta da”.
Gloria: Ta da is when you do a flip, or where the magician cuts the pretty lady in half, not where you show someone where you’re going to shove their dead body!

Important Quotes:
Quote 1: Jay (explaining to Gloria that he will teach Phil to golf better to impress his new client, which ultimately will lead to Phil's success at work allowing him to provide for his family) "because he is the way my grandchildren get food".
Quote 2: Jay "I decided to be gentle with Phil, which didn't come easy to me because I've always been a bit of a drill sergeant when it comes to sports... ".
Quote 3: Dylan "Look at us, we are like a little family...and we're the parents..."
Quote 4:Gloria "No it's not just me, three other mothers are giving the party, and we need all our names on the card."
Quotes 5: Phil" yeah thats exactly what I need. It's what my old tumbling coach use to do. He'd say horrible things about my manhood, throw the chalk bag at me, he'd call and taunt me over the summer, so bring it Jay!"
Quote Analysis
Quote 1: Jay explains that Phil is the breadwinner in the Dumphy household. Phil's sole income portrays the males duties of providing money and food for his family. Throughout history going all the way back to caveman men have been seen as hunters and gatherers responsible for putting food on the table to keep their family alive. This role builds the man up to be seen as the most powerful and controlling member of the traditional family.
Quote 2: Jay explains that he has always been competitive and involved heavily in sports. Jay's main character traits are always being tough, a provider for his family, intense, and wise. Jay being intense in sports is a perfect stereotypical attribute that the typical patriarch is involved in.
Quote 3: Dylan and haley are playing with their two baby cousins. They are role playing the traditional family set up of a mom dad and children.
Quote 4: Gloria is getting last minute things for the play her son is in that night. She says that three other mother's name have to fit on the card. Her line explains that there are fur women running the production aside from Cam, who is a homosexual, which is a stereotype for gay men to be heavily involved in theatre. It is also a stereotype for women to be involved in their child's extra curricular activities and helping to make sure everything runs smoothly. Also, the gesture of the card is to wish the cast luck in their performance. The card represents nurturing, caring, and support which are traditional traits of mothers when they are taking care of their child.
Quote 5: Phil explains that when his coach would yell at him it would allow him to perform better in his competitions. There has always been the stereotypical ideal that men need to be trained hard, and intense and need to yelled at while girls need to be spoken to calmly and the coach can't get too aggressive with them or it will cause the girl to get too upset and be unable to perform.
