Gold at the ed of the archway This golden statue greets you when enter Bayon from the Angkor Wat side. It is king JVII posed as a holy man. As most temples in this area, they are still sacred spots, and offerings and prayers are made regularly, and often visitors are invited to attend. No matter your own faith or life view, it is good manners to respect the local faith and tradition and pay respect. The khmer are among the nicest people on earth, and doing this opens hearts and minds to a really fascinating culture. And even outside the temples you should walk carefully. Feeling nostalgic... 😱😢😍 Missing my Travels where my feet took me anywhere freely before the pandemic like this one at the Banteay Kdei, which means "Citadel of Chambers", also known as "Citadel of Monks' Cells" in #AngkorWat is a one-level Buddhist temple located southeast of Ta Prohm and east of Angkor Thom. Built in the mid-12th to early 13th centuries AD during the reign of Jayavarman VII, it is in the Bayon architectural style, similar in plan to Ta Prohm and Preah Khan, but less complex and smaller.
