Kingdom || Peter + Jayce
It was late in the afternoon, and the looming sunset cast a warm glow on an already magical place. The pair were walking together towards the exit of Walt Disney World Resort, and Peter wore the smile of someone who’d had one of the best days of his life. Over the day he’d longed to be affectionate, and resisting the urge when Jayce was grinning like an idiot was near impossible. As they neared the end of the path they’d entered from earlier in the day, he’d realise they were anonymous here. They were far from their homes and from people they knew, and people were too distracted to cast glances at strangers. He didn’t think Jayce would feel outed here, and nor would he.
He took Jayce’s hand casually, still looking ahead without changing his expression. He remained silent and enjoyed the moment at first; it felt like a worthy ending to their day, and he wanted to soak it in and savor it. Every detail was perfect, right down to the slightly warm feel to the air, and the way Jayce smelt as he inched closed next to him. No drugs dulled his senses, and the feeling in his chest was caused by a handsome boy and not too much alcohol. He hadn’t thought about his parents for several hours, too caught up in the rides and Jayce’s words. Peter came to an easy conclusion.
“This is the happiest I’ve ever been,” he said, almost giggling with joy as he looked at Jayce. “I’m talking...better than the Christmas I got my first dual screen computer set-up, which was an amazing day, I’ve gotta tell you. Twelve year old me nearly cried with happiness.” He let go of Jayce’s hand only to drape an arm around his shoulders, kissing his temple. “But today, with you...I don’t know how anything else could even compete with this.”
