Nico was leaning against the window, his legs stretched as far as they could within the cramped space of the seats. The bus was crowded but so far he had managed to avoid having anyone take the empty seat beside him. He wasn’t actually in a bad mood but he made sure to appear as though he might be, a stern glare etched into his features. He was wearing faded jeans and a dark t-shirt, a very worn leather jacket and scuffed boots heavy on the floor.
He turned his gaze towards the aisle as the bus came to a stop, his cold glare greeting the newcomers as they boarded the bus and looked for available seating. He caught the gaze of one, an attractive young woman that was quick to look away and pass him by to ask after the only other available seat on the bus next to an elderly woman. Nico wouldn’t have thought twice about it except that he heard the old woman’s reply, rude and needlessly abrasive in response to the young woman’s polite query. He glanced back to where they were, his brow furrowing briefly as he saw the old woman giving the younger woman a hard time. It was obvious that the young woman had meant no harm and was caught off guard by the response, her cheeks flushing crimson as she hesitated uncertainly in the aisle. The bus was beginning to move again, the driver more interested in sticking to the schedule than diffusing such an inconsequential confrontation taking place on his bus.
Nico rolled his eyes as the old woman continued, losing patience with her unnecessary amount of backlash towards the other. “Hey,” He barked sharply, catching the attention of both women. His frown deepened and he looked to the younger woman, nodding her over and gesturing to the empty seat beside him. He shot the elderly woman a look of contempt that nearly mirrored her own. He drew his feet towards his own side of the floorboard, making a little extra room for the young woman as she took the seat beside him. “I hate old people.” He muttered to her, his words genuine but his expression apologetic with a vague look of concern.
