"Saturday night take-out" Black-crowned Night Heron steals a Gallinule chick for dinner. Absolutely savage predation behavior - but not shocking considering herons generally eat anything they can fit into their mouth - including their fellow birds. A first for me - I have never seen BCNH's prey on chicks. Nature is absolutely brutal and wildlife doesn't care about your feelings. It's survive or die. It's in these moments I realize I'm glad I'm not a bird.
