Aside from working at the diner, Mabel spends her weekends volunteering as a lifeguard at the local pool. Because the folks in Willow Creek would rather spend their weekends watching golf or playing chess, the pool is usually left deserted. She spends most of her time pretending she’s on Baywatch, posing and enjoying the warm, sparkling water.
This time, her personal model session was interrupted by the unmistakeable sound of flip-flops heading toward the pool.
“How did you- I mean, hey!”
“I had nothing to do today and this hot weather called for a spontaneous trip to the pool..”
“I know right! It’s such a beautiful day.. They say if you love what you do, it’ll never feel like work.”
“Wait you work here too? Its gotta be fate to keep running into you while you’re working! Man, how many jobs do you have?”
“Just the two, but like I said this doesn’t feel like work to me! And neither does waitressing.. I love being so busy!”
“Aren’t we hanging out right now?”
“No- like when you get off work! You work so hard I should at least treat you to dinner for keeping this empty pool so safe..”
