#jaytim week progress report

“rachel, why’d you stop doing the jaytim week progress report??”

that’s an excellent question. it’s bc i stopped making progress. 😃

BUT!!! i have now completed a fic!!

more thoughts/explanations below the cut!

so a couple of days may get moved around and/or respun entirely, i’m not sure. bc i know i want to include most of the wips ive started for this, but they can fit multiple prompts across different days so if i get inspired by something else or i have a previous wip that fits one of the prompts, i may sub some things out idk

rn im focusing on day 5 bc i think i can get that done quickly, im abt halfway done with that

day 9 i think is gonna stay the same prompt, but im going to change the actual fic to interpret the tattoo prompt differently (i say vaguely to not give spoilers for either in case i use that later). it’s gonna be a lot shorter so i shouldn’t have an issue especially since it’s later in the event

day 2, 6, and 8 are contenders for respins 😬

day 4 may need to be shortened and i know i need to rewrite the beginning at the very least, but ive got a clearer idea of where im taking it now

day 3 and 10 i’m just procrastinating bc they’re smut and day 1 had smut so im taking a break from writing it

day 7 i’m not prioritizing just bc it’s later in the event and i have more time, should not be an issue

and i think that’s everything! so excited to see what everyone else is working on for jaytim week!! 😋

now, i know what you must be thinking which is clearly only: rachel, you usually post these on monday. which is a fair thought and definitely the only one you’re thinking and not anything about how the event is over or that there are 11 fics instead of 10….obviously

days 7-11 should be posted soon, may even get 7 out this week but idk. hopefully they’ll all be “done” (and by that i mean at least one chapter posted on ao3) by the end of july, but that is my birthday month so who knows

(also the mer jason one does have words but i forgot to add the count to the screenshot whoops it’s 2,346)

i have a laptop again! so i was able to link all my fics to the word doc so now they’re all blue 😋

did a lot of outlining and planning for day 2 but that’s all in the brainstorm doc so it didn’t change any of the word count for that

did i work on my fics at all yesterday even tho i had the whole day off? no of course not; don’t be ridiculous

idk how much progress i’ll be able to make this week but i really need to actually finish at least one of these soon, this is too much yellow and red

i would say day 8 is less in progress and more me just fleshing out the concept/plot more but there are words in the doc so that’s all that matters

day 1 is almost finished, just have to make a decision on the second to last scene before i can write it

day 3 is gonna be jaytim missionary so we can keep arguing 😋😈

oops forgot to post this monday so i guess yall will get a snippet from one of these since it’s now wip wednesday

day 4 is not actually that long, i’ve started that one multiple different ways and am gonna start it again, but it’ll be very similar to the most recent draft

started on day 6 bc both day 4 and day 1 were being annoying and not letting me through, but then working on that allowed me to have inspiration for 4, so i stopped working on it

we are currently 12 weeks out from jaytim week so i would like to get at least one of them finished this week so i have over a week to finish all of them

snippet for day 1 below the cut! (not long, just for people who don’t wanna get spoilers)

The door cracked open a millimeter. Jason froze, shocked as a sliver of Tim’s face appeared, icy blue eye glaring up at him. Jason swallowed, dropping the phone.

“I thought you were compromised,” Jason said in explanation.

“Clearly,” Tim snapped, his gaze moving behind Jason to the door. He looked back at Jason. “I said the other half of the code.”

“Yeah, I know, but…” Jason looked at the ground, embarrassed. “It was still weird.”

Tim huffed a laugh, “God, I guess I need to take more breaks if this is the response to them.”

Jason looked up, cracking a smile, “It is out of character.”

Tim rolled his eyes good naturedly before smiling back at him, “I am fine though. Thanks for checking in.”

“No problem,” Jason murmured, his eyes scanning over Tim on autopilot, looking for injuries. Tim wasn’t wearing a shirt from what little of his chest Jason could see, but most of his body was tucked behind the door. Jason frowned. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

oops was totally supposed to post this yesterday for wip wednesday but oh well this is my jaytim week progress report which is fully inspired by @flavourlessfiction

purple is definitely going to be a multi chapter fic. i do Not have the time to finish it before jaytim week even if the other days were already done lol

am i stressed abt how none of them are finished yet? maybe

green is what i’m working on currently so here’s a lil sneaky peek! (bonus points if you can guess what the green connection is)

Robin stretched his arms over his head, exhaling deeply before dropping them back down. He glanced in the direction of Crime Alley, waiting for Red Hood. This was where their patrols usually crossed paths. They’d take a quick, five minute break together to catch their breath or drink some water before going their separate ways. Robin sighed, chewing the inside of his cheek as he debated whether or not to comm him; he’d been here three minutes already. Before he made up his mind, he spotted Hood in the distance, running across the rooftops.

Hood landed on the roof with him, panting.

“You good?” Tim asked, stepping closer.

“Fine,” Jason wheezed, pulling off his facemask to suck more air in. “Jesus, fuck.” He bent over, resting his hands on his knees.

Tim leaned around him, checking to make sure Jason wasn’t being chased or anything before dropping a hand on his shoulder, massaging the muscle gently.

“Sorry,” Jason said, still catching his breath. “Got held up; had to run to get here in time.”

“How far?” Tim asked, bewildered.

Jason straightened, Tim’s hand falling off his shoulder. “Not far. Just a couple miles.”

Tim laughed in disbelief, “Something wrong with your bike?”

Jason ran his hand through his hair, chest still heaving, “No, just left it on the other side of town somewhere like a dumbass.”

“Jesus,” Tim muttered, digesting how important their little meetups must be to Jason if he was willing to run that far and fast just so he wouldn’t miss it.

“Anyway,” Jason said with a grin. “You fare any better?”

Tim nodded slowly, “Got my main suspect into GCPD custody with proof of the arms deal plus a fledgling trafficking ring.”

“Holy shit,” Jason said, sounding impressed. “Nice work, Robin.”

Tim shrugged, both pleased and uncomfortable with the praise, “I had no idea about the trafficking.”

“Still,” Jason said. “You got the guy. Thought you said you couldn’t work on it ‘til tomorrow night.”

“I wasn’t,” Tim said honestly. “We just crossed paths on patrol.”

“Huh,” Jason said. “Weird.”

“Yeah,” Tim said softly. His watch beeped twice, indicating his break was up. “I…umm, should probably get going though. Hope you find your bike.”

“Thanks,” Jason said with a tired grin. “Stay safe.”

Tim’s lips parted in surprise, not expecting that at all. Warmth flooded his chest as butterflies swarmed his stomach. The thought of Jason caring about Tim enough to say that to his face was overwhelming. “I…yeah,” he managed to stutter out before running.

this week was more research and revision heavy than anything else buuuuut i did finally rewrite yellow! most of the research part was for that day; i had several tabs open for it lol

i wrote a couple summaries and picked out some tags as well. i haven’t put them as a draft on ao3 yet (i just have it in the word doc) but i think i’ll try to go ahead and do that for purple, blue and green since they’re “done.” i also changed the shade for some of the days, the most drastic change being green. the other changes are so subtle i doubt they’re even noticeable

oh yeah! i finished blue! or well i finished the parts im doing for jaytim week, the rest will come later simply bc i do not have time to finish it lol

i’m gonna focus a lot on yellow this week, try to get it finished bc i’d really like to post it all in one go, same with red. orange i’m okay with doing a spilt and i could maybe do a split with red but i don’t want to lol

i’m going to hold off on posting the blue and purple writing playlists just bc i don’t want to accidentally spoil anything

thought i’d go ahead and get started on jaytim week early so here’s my progress report 😋

obviously got a lot of reds and hardly any yellows rn but we’re only in march so it’s probably fine. some of the concepts are stronger than others, but i have a pretty good idea of what i’m doing for every day but 3, i may just do free day for it

i’m going to ✨attempt✨ to limit my word count per fic this year (especially since we’ve got 3 extra days) but we’ll see what happens

i’ve also started making writing playlists again this year but most of the songs for day 1 aren’t actually related to the fic and just fit the theme, if that makes sense. i might share if i make more playlists later but idk

will probably wait until closer to june to do wip wed bc i don’t really have much to share rn anyway. originally planned to go in order but if day 1 keeps refusing to let me make progress, im gonna switch to something else

so excited to see what everyone has planned!
